Zhao Wenkai’s gaze fell on Si Chen, speaking words that only Si Chen and he could understand.
Initially, Tong Yao was very pleased when Zhao Wenkai offered to help, as the purpose of this dinner was also for the housing issue. It seems, not all men who deeply love their wives are necessarily upright and forthright.
The four of them finished their meal with their own thoughts. Zhao Wenkai offered to drive Si Chen and Tong Yao home, but was politely declined by Si Chen. Zhao Wenkai, however, wasn’t surprised, only putting his arm around Wang Chun’s shoulders with a faint smile.
"Dr. Si, don’t think too much. I may not be a great person, but I’ve always kept my promises to my wife. You guys don’t need to worry about the house issue, I’ll definitely help to make it happen."
Upon hearing his words, Wang Chun looked up at him with a joyful expression.
But Si Chen said, "We won’t trouble Mr. Zhao with the housing issue."
Although Tong Yao was a bit surprised by Si Chen’s words, she respected his decision.
"Yaoyao, don’t you guys really want to buy a house?" Wang Chun couldn’t understand why Tong Yao suddenly gave up.
In order not to make Wang Chun overthink, Tong Yao came up with a credible excuse, "Your uncle is staying in the hospital where Ahchen works and Ahchen is his attending physician. If you guys help us buy a house this time and others find out and stir things up at the hospital, it wouldn’t look good. No amount of explanation will clear it up."
Wang Chun had never thought of this beforehand, but now hearing Tong Yao’s words, she finally understood, "Yaoyao, I wasn’t considerate enough, I completely overlooked this point before."
