Chapter 412: Chapter 412: Mother and Son Breakup 2
She had been living here for two days, and neither her older son nor her younger son had come to pick her up. Now, they had come only to ask her to return home. Lin Fengying’s heart dropped to an all-time low.
Si Chen nodded and spoke in a deep voice, "I already know about the scene you caused at the milk tea shop yesterday. Think carefully about whether you will return home or not."
So, her older son had come to stand up for his in-laws. Great, just splendid; after all these years, she had raised him, only for him to drive his own mother away for the sake of others.
Lin Fengying took a few heavy breaths while her lips trembled, "Si Chen, what do you mean by this? Are you saying you don’t want your own mother because of your in-laws? What will you do if I don’t go back to Li City? Are you going to cut ties with me? Are you going to pretend you don’t have a mother?"
Her questions were a deliberate attempt to put Si Chen on the spot about his morality and virtue. If Si Chen said yes, it would mean he was heartless and disrespectful, earning him a reputation as an unfilial son whether in the village or the hospital.
On the other hand, if Si Chen backed down, he wouldn’t be able to control Lin Fengying.
After all, no matter how much wrong she’d done, Si Chen couldn’t hit or curse his own mother.
Lin Fengying was clearly banking on this fact when she questioned if he planned to cut off ties with her. She didn’t believe that her eldest son would sever their relationship for the sake of Tong Yao’s family.
"If you go back, I’ll act as if nothing happened and Boyi will still give you living expenses every month," Si Chen stared coldly at Lin Fengying, devoid of emotion, "If you don’t return, then to you, both father and I are dead in Kyoto."
He didn’t explicitly say he wanted to sever their relationship, but his every word carried the implication of cutting ties with Lin Fengying.
She never thought that her eldest son would utter these words. Lin Fengying felt dizzy and stumbled backward, only saved from falling by Si Weimin’s support.
After composing herself, she pointed at Si Chen, shaking, "Are you really willing to cut off our mother-son relationship for the Tong family?"
Before Si Chen could answer, she glared at him with hatred in her eyes, sobbing with reproach, "Si Chen, for so many years, I’ve always believed that you were the most obedient and sensible child among you three. It’s only been two years, so why have you changed this way? Even if I made serious mistakes, I’m your mother. How could you utter such unfilial words?"
The last word was practically gritted out through clenched teeth.
She was so filled with resentment!
It was hard to pinpoint who exactly she resented, but the resentment was there nonetheless.
It had been over ten years!
She had been a widow for more than ten years, and this was what it had led to.
"Si Chen, apologize to your mother right now," Si Weimin saw Lin Fengying’s trembling form and rebuked Si Chen coldly, "Your mother has remained unmarried for all these years solely for the sake of you three. No matter how hard or difficult it was, she never once thought about abandoning you. How could you hurt her like this?"
At Si Weimin’s words, a cold smirk appeared at the corner of Si Chen’s lips, "Are you really sure she never once thought about abandoning the three of us?"
Lin Fengying’s crying abruptly stopped. This was the first time she had seen such an expression on her eldest son’s face. Despite his usually indifferent nature, he had never displayed such an attitude before.
It seemed as if she finally realized something, her lips losing their color instantly.
"Do you need me to remind you why you didn’t leave back then?" Si Chen hadn’t planned to bring up the past, but since Si Weimin and Lin Fengying kept using it against him, he didn’t mind discussing those days.
Lin Fengying’s lips trembled, yet no words came out.
Over the years, everyone had praised her for the difficult task of raising three children alone. This had made her forget the wrongs she had committed in the past.
Back then, she had indeed planned to abandon two of her children and start a new life with Xiaohui and Si Weimin. But Si Weimin had refused to take her with him.
If they had left together, it would have confirmed the rumors about their relationship in the village, and Si Chen and Boyi would have been ridiculed and bullied. But Lin Fengying hadn’t cared about all this back then; she wanted to elope with Si Weimin.
Unfortunately, Si Weimin was firm in his decision not to take her with him, as the children wouldn’t have been able to survive in the village without her.
Si Weimin was also afraid he wouldn’t be able to support both her and Xiaohui in the outside world, so he left the village alone.
For a long time, Lin Fengying had blamed Boyi and Si Chen for Si Weimin’s decision to abandon her.
Nobody knew that the Lin Fengying who appeared weak and bullied in front of others portrayed a completely different picture at home. Until Si Chen grew older and became more sensible, she hadn’t dared to lay a hand on him. However, she frequently beat Boyi behind closed doors.
It was only when Boyi grew older and Si Chen grew up that she started to restrain herself.
But she had believed that all of this was kept hidden. She never imagined that her oldest son had seen and remembered everything.
Only now did Lin Fengying finally understand why Si Chen had been so reserved and hardly ever called her mother from a young age.
Upon learning the truth, she felt as though all her energy had been sapped. She weakly waved her hand and said blankly, "Just go! I’m not a good mother, I don’t deserve to be your mother. You can pretend I don’t exist, and in the future, I won’t have a son either. Even if I had to beg on the streets, it won’t concern you anymore."
Si Chen’s eyes lingered on her for a moment, showing not a hint of concern.
Her words were nothing more than a different way of expressing her humiliation and rage.
Without another word, Si Chen turned around, opened the door, and walked out.
The moment the door shut, Lin Fengying collapsed onto the floor, whispering unintelligibly to herself, "He knew everything, he’s always known everything, and he’s always held a grudge against me."
"Sister-in-law," Si Weimin helped Lin Fengying to a seat, his face dark, "Si Chen has always been deep and thoughtful. He probably has been holding a grudge against you for years. Now that things have come to this, try to let it go. Don’t worry, even if Si Chen abandons you, I won’t let you be left with nothing."
Hearing this, Lin Fengying suddenly gripped Si Weimin’s arm tightly, "I’m not worried about being left with nothing; I can’t accept it, I just can’t! My own flesh and blood whom I carried in my womb for ten months now treats me like an enemy and wants to sever ties with me! Even if I was wrong back then, I gave birth to him and raised him!"
Why did Tong Yaohui get to take away her son just by spending some money?
The Tong family had money; they didn’t lack money. For Yaohui, money was but a pile of waste paper. Why then, was Yaohui able to take her son away using these waste papers?
"Mom, what are you and uncle arguing about in the living room so early in the morning? Do you not care about other people’s sleep?" Si Xiaohui, who was awakened by the noise, complained loudly from her room.
Hearing this, Si Weimin quickly said, "It’s nothing, breakfast isn’t ready yet. You can sleep a little more."
After speaking, he helped Lin Fengying back to her bed.
