Chapter 436: Chapter 211: Divorce Agreement
Tong Yao thought to herself, even if she wanted to argue, she wouldn’t be able to, with Si Chen being as cool-headed as if he’d swallowed several bottles of sedatives, she’s never seen Si Chen lose his temper.
Perhaps in his lifetime, Si Chen will never show an aggressive side because his personality was not that of an impatient and easy to anger person.
The blankets in the hospital ward were not very thick, so Tong Yao didn’t sleep well at first. But later on, she felt the temperature inside the blanket suddenly rise, as if spring had arrived. When she woke up in the morning, she realized that there were extra blankets on top of her and Wen Yun’s.
It turns out that Si Chen had brought blankets from the nearby ward in the middle of the night when he noticed their discomfort due to the cold. Since Yaohui was still not awake, Si Chen put extra clothing on his blanket instead of adding another blanket.
When he saw Tong Yao and Wen Yun wake up, he tidied up the blankets into a square shape, "I’ll take these back with me when I go grab some breakfast. If something comes up, go and find the doctor on duty."
He pointed to the locker next to the bed, "There is hot water and cotton swabs there. When dad wakes up, remove his breathing apparatus and dampen his lips with the swab. You can also feed him a small amount of lukewarm water."
Tong Yao reminded him, "I think we only have rice and flour at home."
They hadn’t lived there for a long time, so they didn’t have much food. Now, on New Year’s Day, the restaurants and the Vegetable Market were closed with no place to buy food.
"It’s okay, we can just make some porridge for now." Wen Yun whispered, "In a couple of days when the Vegetable Market opens again, I’ll buy some groceries and cook some good food for us."
Now that her husband was still not awake, Wen Yun didn’t have much of an appetite.
"Hmm."
Si Chen nodded his head, held the blankets, and walked out. A few minutes after he left, Yaohui woke up. After sleeping for a whole day and night, Yaohui was still rather groggy when he woke up. Tong Yao immediately removed his breathing apparatus, but due to a dry throat, he couldn’t say anything even after opening his mouth.
"Drink some water first." Maintaining tune with what Si Chen had said, Wen Yun first dampened his lips and then fed him some water.
Once his throat felt better, Yaohui asked, "Why am I here?" His voice was hoarse as he spoke.
Wen Yun and Tong Yao felt a pang of heartache. The family had been celebrating the new year joyously, but were now all in the hospital. In spite of all misfortunes, they were relieved that he was alright.
Wen Yun patted his shoulder, "It’s okay, you had a stroke due to high blood pressure. You’ve had surgery now, and it went quite well. As long as you rest up for a few days, your body should be just fine."
Yaohui seemed to remember what had happened prior to his blackout. Slowly shifting his gaze around the room, he asked, "Where’s Xiaochen?"
Having been married for over twenty years, Wen Yun understood his concerns. They had unfairly blamed Si Chen, making her sigh in regret.
"Xiaochen went back to cook porridge for us, he’ll be back shortly."
Indeed, upon hearing this Yaohui stopped searching for Si Chen and told Tong Yao, "This was not Xiaochen’s fault, don’t take it out on him."
Although Si Chen hasn’t been under his care his whole life, Yaohui has watched him grow from a distance. Adding that he was now his son-in-law, Yaohui saw no difference between him and his actual son. Yaohui didn’t want his own issue to affect the relationship of the younger generation.
Even now, Yaohui was concerned about her relationship with Si Chen.
Touched deeply inside her heart, Tong Yao, who had never felt such warmth in her previous life, replied, "Dad, I did not take it out on him."
Since Yaohui just woke up, Tong Yao didn’t want to discuss the divorce yet, fearing he would be too emotional.
Yaohui nodded approvingly.
Wen Yun advised, "You just woke up, so don’t exert yourself. Yaoyao has grown up and is sensible now, you don’t need to worry, she knows what should and shouldn’t be done. You just have to recover peacefully, and no need to take anything to heart. Damaging your health over it wouldn’t be worth it."
Yaohui hummed in agreement and closed his eyes to rest.
Si Chen was gone for over an hour. When he came back, he brought lean meat porridge and a few egg pancakes. However, Yaohui could only have liquid diet for now, so he wouldn’t be able to eat egg pancakes.
"Where did you get the lean meat and eggs?" Tong Yao was surprised, having thought they’d only be able to have clear rice porridge.
Now that Yaohui was awake, she found her appetite back, and she quickly ate two egg pancakes.
"I borrowed them from Dr. Chen’s place. I will return them later," Si Chen explained.
After eating, Si Chen had Yaohui transferred to a general ward. Yaohui had a strong constitution, and after waking up and eating something, his spirits lifted substantially.
Even though Yaohui’s surgery was successful, since it was brain surgery, he still had to stay in the hospital for two weeks. Fortunately, the Tong Family was well-off and didn’t have to worry about the medical expenses.
Now that his condition was stable, everyone felt better. At noon, Wen Yun went home and added more cat food to the cat’s bowl, then brought back some groceries she had bought before the New Year to the family quarters. She cooked some meals and brought them to the hospital. That’s how they celebrated the New Year in the hospital.
Tong Yao and Si Chen originally planned to stay the night at the hospital, but Yaohui, being stubborn, insisted they go back to the family quarters.
"Go back home and stay there! When your father becomes stubborn, he’s just like a mule. Don’t you know his temperament yet?" Wen Yun urged them to go back as well.
With no other choice, Tong Yao followed Si Chen back to their home in the family quarters. Before going to bed, Si Chen wrote two divorce agreements.Tong Yao looked over them and found out that he had clearly written he wanted nothing.
Was this guy not afraid that she would marry someone else with all the property?
Thinking of Si Chen’s reputation in her past life, Tong Yao realized she was overthinking. His fame was renowned both domestically and abroad, he wouldn’t be short of money. To him, once his fame was established to that extent, money was no longer important.
She picked up the pen and signed her name decisively, "Alright, you can show the divorce agreement to your mom and your sister tomorrow! Ask them to stop bothering my parents."
As soon as the words left her mouth, Tong Yao felt a twinge of regret. She wondered if what she said had hurt Si Chen. Lifting her gaze, she saw Si Chen stashing away the divorce agreement expressionlessly.
"We have to get up early tomorrow, better go to sleep now."
Even though this divorce was meant to deal with Lin Fengying, Tong Yao felt weird. Even the atmosphere between her and Si Chen felt a bit peculiar.
Perhaps because of the divorce agreement, she didn’t sleep well that night. She got up earlier in the morning. She thought that she was the first person among them to wake up, but Si Chen had already made breakfast.
Seeing her waking up, Si Chen asked, "why didn’t you sleep a bit longer?"
"I can’t sleep anymore, I will take some breakfast to dad and mom." Tong Yao said.
"I’ve already done that. Have some breakfast before you go. It’s cold outside, remember to dress warmly. I have to step out for a bit, I’ll be back soon." Before leaving, Si Chen deliberately went back into the room and picked up the divorce agreement.
