Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Do You Also Drink?

After speaking, Tong Yao nodded at Cheng Feng, then immediately left with Tong Yaohui, showing no intention of getting more familiar with Cheng Feng. It was as if she did not know him at all.

Tong Yaohui was very satisfied with Tong Yao’s reaction. With these kinds of big bosses, the more formalities one undertakes, the more they are put off. In the future, they may think that Tong Yao is intentionally getting close.

Especially since Tong Yao is attractive, some might even misunderstand that Tong Yao uses her beauty to get close, which could negatively impact their impression of her.

Tong Yao’s current behavior is the best. Even if she meets Cheng Feng in the future, he would think it a mere coincidence and would not overthink it.

Tong Yao and Tong Yaohui shared the same thinking. The father-daughter pair tacitly understood each other without discussing it further.

They left the hospital and immediately took a taxi to the suburb to look at houses. The changes since last year were tremendous, leaving Tong Yaohui marveling at the rapid pace of development.

"If this rate of development continues, the property prices here will skyrocket. Even if you and Xiaochen do nothing, just collecting rental income, it would be enough to support several generations."

Tong Yaohui never expected that he missed a good opportunity to become a boss when he was younger and now, when he is almost halfway in the grave, he has finally become the father of a boss.

Initially, he just wanted to find for Tong Yao a reliable person to care for her. However, he now found that his daughter was already capable of standing on her own. In a short span of two or three years, it felt like a long time had passed.

Tong Yao laughed, "Dad, in two to three months, the renovation here will be completed. We should move to this place then! The area here is huge, and it’s convenient to live in. I heard recently that our place might be demolished before the end of the year."

Tong Yaohui nodded, "Okay, that works too. The house left by your grandpa is also soon to be demolished, but I heard this demolition does not offer monetary compensation. Instead, they compensate houses according to the size. I assume your grandpa’s house could be split into two or three houses."

Tong Yao’s eyes lit up, "It’s even better to receive houses. Currently, the housing prices in Kyoto are skyrocketing. That’s better than receiving cash."

During this era, receiving a monetary compensation for a demolished house would not likely allow you to buy another house in the city. It’s better to receive several houses instead.

"Hmm." Tong Yaohui nodded, clearly agreeing with Tong Yao’s opinion, "Getting houses works too. Owing debt or whatever, we will take whatever we get. This way, your and Xiaochen’s future is secured. Your mother and I can feel relieved then."

Thinking about the tumor in his brain, he sighed, "I don’t know when my body will give up on me. Your mother has always lived together with someone. She is afraid of loneliness. In the future, you should live with her and she can help take care of your child. This way, you two can focus on your businesses."

Before, Tong Yaohui was most concerned about his daughter. Now that she could stand on her own with her business booming, he started to worry about his wife.

Although he was physically able for now, there was still something in his brain. Maybe one day he would close his eyes for good. Since his wife had never lived alone since they got together, Tong Yaohui started to worry about her.

He was concerned that his wife would be too lonely after he’s gone. He couldn’t help but share his concerns with Tong Yao.

Tong Yao felt a pang in her heart upon hearing this, but she casually comforted, "Dad, don’t overthink it. You’re currently in good health. Xiaochen is doing research on brain tumors abroad now. When he comes back, a small incision will fix you right up. You just wait to live long and see your great-grandchildren!"

Tong Yaohui was amused by Tong Yao’s optimistic words and did not continue the topic further.

The breeding farm was located on the top of the mountain. It took half an hour even by bike to reach the market to buy things. Finally, back in the city, Tong Yaohui and Tong Yao bought many daily necessities and food to take back.

They also bought many vegetable seeds, as requested by Wen Yun. Tong Yaohui and Gu Hongwei had grown some greens before, which were now edible. However, Wen Yun thought eating only one type of vegetable was boring.

She also asked Tong Yaohui to buy lots of cured meat, as it was inconvenient to buy meat up the mountain.

The breeding farm had only recently gotten electricity and a telephone line a couple of months ago. There was no refrigerator or television, which Tong Yao thought was inconvenient. She bought a large refrigerator and several new clothes and shoes for them.

After a full night’s rest, Tong Yao rented a car early next morning to send them back to the breeding farm.

More than a month had passed since she’d last seen Jian Jun and Liu Sanwa. Tong Yao almost didn’t recognize them. Although work on the breeding farm was not extremely exhausting, it was not easy either. She had not expected these two not only to have persevered but also to have gained a considerable amount of weight and looked much stronger.

Jian Jun and Liu Sanwa were also delighted to see Tong Yao, affectionately calling her Sister Yaoyao.

In their time at the breeding farm, they felt like they had entered heaven. They had chicken, fish, meat, and eggs to eat every day. Gu Hongwei and Tong Yaohui were easy to get along with. The workers were well-fed, warm, and not harassed by their superiors. Their quality of life was so good that it felt almost unreal.

Tong Yao asked them to check what was in the car. Jian Jun and Liu Sanwa unloaded the items and were ecstatic when they saw the television. They carried the television inside, busying themselves with setting up the antenna.

They lived between two mountains with a natural reservoir nearby. Gu Hongwei chose this location because it was excellent, despite the fact that there were seldom people around, everything else was perfect.

Gu Hongwei also raised fish in the reservoir, planning to grow fruit trees on the hill next year.

At night, Wen Yun cooked a large meal. They seldom gathered like this, and with no work at night, Tong Yaohui wanted to have a few drinks with Gu Hongwei. But Wen Yun stopped him, and it ended up being Gu Hongwei, Jian Jun, and Liu Sanwa who ended up drinking.

Jian Jun and Liu Sanwa were drinking for the first time and got drunk after just a few sips. Tong Yaohui did not expect these young fellows to have such weak alcohol tolerance and helped them back to their rooms to rest.

Tong Yao saw that Gu Hongwei had drunk only half a bottle of beer, so she poured herself a glass from Jian Jun’s unfinished bottle.

Gu Hongwei was surprised that Tong Yao drank too, "You drink too?"

Tong Yao laughed, "I can handle alcohol slightly better than them."

Gu Hongwei smiled and clinked glasses with Tong Yao.

Looking at Gu Hongwei, Tong Yao did not know how to express her feelings. She found that each time she visited, Gu Hongwei’s hair had grown past his ears, and he hadn’t shaved his beard in a long time. From his looks, he seemed like a middle-aged man in a state of decline.

However, looking into his eyes, he seemed like a young man with ambition, fighting for his dreams.

After half a bottle of wine, Tong Yao revealed the purpose of her visit, "Hongwei, I think you can’t just stay here all the time. This can easily result in losing touch with society. I think you should get a driving license and then buy a small cargo truck. Moving around and delivering goods will become very convenient."
