Chapter 522: Chapter 522: Only Going to Earn More

Realizing he had been asking a lot of questions, Si Boyi refrained from continuing his inquiries.

However, he found it puzzling how Gu Hongwei was expelled from school. He knew that Hongwei was a considerate child. When in Kyoto, he would either be in school or helping out at Tong Yao’s milk tea shop. It seemed unlikely for him to be expelled.

Despite the many questions in his mind, seeing everyone in a cheerful mood, he didn’t want to interrogate further.

After the meal, Tong Yao and the others returned to the hotel. Seeing as everyone else was heading in the direction of the milk tea shop, they all parted ways and went home.

Zhang Lijuan spent the walk home lost in thought. Once home she said, "It would have been so much better if your mother and Xiaohui didn’t stir those troubles. Tong Yao is now leading Hongwei in their big business, and we are just starting from scratch again. If your mother hadn’t meddled with all those things, we would be living a good life now, even building our own western-style house."

Si Boyi sighed; he knew that Zhang Lijuan was speaking the truth. But what happened, happened. They could do nothing but accept the reality.

"Lijuan, don’t worry. I will earn money and ensure you live a good life."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Lijuan responded, "We, as a family, just need to be safe. I don’t want anything else."

She had only complained about Lin Fengying and Si Xiaohui. She wasn’t blaming Si Boyi. Having been married for this long, she clearly understood Si Boyi’s affection for her.

She was content. Even when she compared him to her brother-in-law, who feared her sister yet didn’t treat her well, Si Boyi, though honest, always regarded her highly.

...

Returning to the hotel, Tong Yao was ready to sleep, but Guo Jinnian was not tired. Sitting cross-legged at Tong Yao’s bedside, she mischievously teased, "Yaoyao, I have something to tell you. I think that Mrs. Hu and her friend have a unique relationship."

"What do you mean by unique?" Tong Yao raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

"I mean, they might have something more than friendship going on," Guo Jinnian replied with a playful smile.

Tong Yao paused, then asked, "Are you saying that Mrs. Hu and her friend might be lovers?"

Guo Jinnian vigorously shook her head, "No no, there is no romantic vibe in their eye contact, it doesn’t seem to be a relationship. They probably haven’t confessed their feelings yet. However, I think her friend likes her and Mrs. Hu likely feels the same way. I just don’t understand why, being single and not young any more, they didn’t express their feelings to each other."

"You don’t know, the way he looked at her when she was injured... it was indescribable. His concern was evident."

Tong Yao contemplated a moment, then exclaimed, "I think I might know the reason. Mrs. Hu had a marriage before and got hurt, coupled with her infertility, perhaps she lacks security and trust in men now. So, they probably have feelings for each other but have not confessed, or maybe Mrs. Hu has been rejecting her friend."

"Your analysis seems reasonable!" Guo Jinnian agreed, "I guess that might be the case. If Mrs. Hu lost some weight and dressed up, she’s really a charming young lady."

Tong Yao burst out laughing, "Is that man handsome?"

Guo Jinnian shook her head, "He’s not handsome, but he’s not ugly either. He’s just... bearable."

Then she looked at Tong Yao, half-threateningly, "He can be average, but your husband must be handsome! Otherwise, I will feel uncomfortable, as if a beautiful flower is planted in cow dung. It will disturb my sleep."

Tong Yao, as if terrified, quickly wrapped herself in the blanket. She looked at Guo Jinnian with fearful eyes and exclaimed, "Don’t fall for me!"

Guo Jinnian was taken aback for a moment before realizing that Tong Yao was teasing her. They instantly started playing around and laughed heartily. In the middle of their joviality, a knock on the door paused them. Before either of them could react, the door creaked open. 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝘱𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Hongwei, still in the middle of knocking, awkwardly said, "You seem to have left the door unsecured," as he had barely tapped twice when it opened.

Tong Yao and Guo Jinnian didn’t mind. They stopped fooling around and, acting serious, they invited Hongwei in for a chat.

Hongwei closed the door behind him and said, "I wanted to discuss our return to Kyoto. Now that we have secured the customers here, can we return tomorrow?"

Tong Yao and Guo Jinnian exchanged glances. They hesitated before asking, "Your father’s seventh-day memorial ceremony is in a few days, do you want to wait until it’s over before returning to Kyoto?"

Hongwei shook his head slightly, "It’s okay. I’ll go with you to Kyoto. Then, I’ll return back, and bring the goods."

Tong Yao figured that was reasonable. She turned to Guo Jinnian and said, "Jinnian, why don’t you call Mrs. Hu here? Since we’re leaving tomorrow, we should let her know."

Guo Jinnian nodded. She hopped off the bed, put on her shoes and left the room. In a moment, she returned with Hu Haiyun.

As soon as Hu Haiyun entered, she asked, "Are we leaving tomorrow?"

"Yes," Tong Yao nodded. "Mrs. Hu, can you leave tomorrow?"

"I can," Hu Haiyun nodded. "I was actually planning to discuss my reselling plans. I’ve rested for quite a few days now. I’ll get another couple of days of rest in Kyoto, after that, I’m ready to resume. I plan on leaving the whole stock to you this time. I won’t be returning to Li City for a while."

Since Tong Yao was aware of her situations, Hu Haiyun didn’t hide anything. "I think someone is watching me. Those people might even have figured out my itinerary. It’s too risky to stay in Li City. Constantly traveling is also tiring. At least I can rest easy in Kyoto."

Tong Yao did not expect Hu Haiyun to desire resuming her operations so soon. After all, it was a high-risk job.

After some thought, Tong Yao said, "Mrs. Hu, instead of going at it alone, have you considered leading a small team? This way, it won’t be too exhausting for a single person, risks will be reduced, and profits will increase."

Sensing a proposition, Hu Haiyun asked, "What do you mean?"

Tong Yao clarified, "Find a few people you can trust. Lead them on a few trips, then let them exclusively run the operation for you while we undertake the sales. What do you think?"

Hu Haiyun didn’t expect Tong Yao to dream so big. After some hesitation, she said,

"Honestly, I don’t have suitable candidates around me, but maybe my friend does. If you’re serious about it, we should leave a day later. I need to discuss this with my friend and ask him to find some people. Afterward, we can go together to Kyoto. Once the paperwork here is sorted out, they can directly take the train over."
