Chapter 570: Chapter 570 Jinnian’s Arm Needs Medical Treatment

Tong Yao subconsciously looked towards Si Chen, "What do we do now? Jinnian’s arm needs medical treatment at the hospital."

Before Si Chen could answer, Guo Jinnian quickly stepped in: "Yaoyao, don’t worry. I took some anti-inflammatory medication last night, and I feel much better. Let’s just wait here until they allow us to leave."

Guo Jinnian felt that she could endure the pain for now. The fact that the others had guns scared her, and she didn’t want to provoke them.

Although she wasn’t one to shy away from difficult situations, the fact was they were in a foreign land, and Tong Yao, who was pregnant, was with them. She didn’t want to cause unnecessary casualties due to her situation.

However, Si Chen calmly said, "You guys wait here a bit, I’ll go and talk to them."

Tong Yao trusted Si Chen, but with the others holding guns, it was hard not to worry. "Be careful, try not to provoke them. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll find another way."

Guo Jinnian also advised, "Dr. Si, they have guns, this is not a joke. Remember to stay calm."

Si Chen nodded, asked the others to take care of Tong Yao, and then headed towards the police who were guarding the bridge. Because he was not a native, the police officers seemed unusually polite.

From several meters away, the voices of their conversation were not loud. Tong Yao couldn’t hear what they were saying and could only guess from their expressions.

The police initially frowned, looking displeased. But after Si Chen said something, the officers looked towards Tong Yao’s group and nodded.

Seeing this, Tong Yao breathed a sigh of relief. As expected, Si Chen came back and said, "They agreed to let us go and even offered to provide an inflatable raft."

At this news, everyone felt relieved. Tong Yao thought for a moment then turned to look at Han Enzhen, who was standing behind her. "Enzhen, stay here where there’s food and shelter. We’re taking Jinnian to see a doctor. Her arm is broken and we can’t delay treatment."

Hearing this, Han Enzhen, who had planned to leave with them, looked visibly disappointed. "Yaoyao, can I go with you? I don’t know anyone here and I don’t want to stay here."

Before Tong Yao could respond, Fu Yiheng outright refused. "The inflatable raft can’t hold that many people. Here, you have shelter and food, why follow us and suffer? Just wait for a couple of days and once the flood recedes, you can go back to your place."

Han Enzhen shook her head, "I don’t want to stay here alone, knowing no one. If the raft can’t carry all of us, I can walk in the water. I want to leave with you guys and return to our country together."

Worried they wouldn’t agree to take her, she quickly added, "Can’t I also help to take care of Jinnian since her arm is injured?"

Even though she had never taken care of anyone, she was still capable of helping out with simple tasks like fetching water or carrying something.

Guo Jinnian pretended not to hear, her gaze wandering aimlessly. She felt already like a burden and was not in a position to decide who goes or stays.

Although Tong Yao was not a generous person, having Han Enzhen around didn’t seem to be a problem, especially since Enzhen had helped her before. She decided that if Enzhen wanted to follow them, she might as well let her.

With that thought in mind, Tong Yao turned to Si Chen and suggested, "Let’s take her with us! This place is filled with foreigners, and she really has nowhere else to go."

Since Tong Yao agreed, Si Chen didn’t have any objections, and responded, "Alright, then let’s return the blankets to them."

Si Chen took the folded blankets from Fu Yiheng and returned them to the people distributing supplies. Then, they collected the inflatable raft from the entrance of the bridge. It was quite small, accommodating three people was already a squeeze. The tall frames of Fu Yiheng and Si Chen could only be accommodated by walking in the water while pushing the raft.

Though travelling in the water was slow, they kept each other company by chatting, making the journey less tiresome.

On the way, Fu Yiheng shared his experience of falling into a manhole. Guo Jinnian could relate to this as she began to share her own experience of accidentally drinking dirty water and witnessing a woman falling into a sewer.

As the two of them went on, Han Enzhen also chimed in, sharing her experience of being trapped in a room. Luckily, like Tong Yao, she had the foresight to take her visa and passport with her when she left her room. She sealed them tightly in a bag to keep them from getting wet.

Fu Yiheng had to admit, Han Enzhen was rather smart. He praised, "Good thing you were quick-witted. Losing those documents would be a big problem. When we left our school, the first thing we all did was to secure our passports and visas."

Guo Jinnian interjected: "Yaoyao is really smart as well. At that time, I wanted to carry more stuff, but she reminded me to just bring these documents and money."

Hearing this, Si Chen affectionately stroked Tong Yao’s hair and said, "That’s very thoughtful."

Fu Yiheng grinned widely and remarked ironically, "The acrid smell of love."

Chatting in this manner, Guo Jinnian didn’t feel the pain in her arm as much anymore. After more than an hour, they finally reached the hospital. This recently built, three-year-old hospital was located on relatively high ground and had a sturdy foundation, so it wasn’t severely affected by the flood.

The water level inside the hospital only reached their knees, which was much better compared to the outside.

Upon reaching the hospital, Si Chen immediately carried Tong Yao to the second floor. Fu Yiheng, being the only single man in the group, had to take on the responsibility of looking after the two single women. He carried Guo Jinnian and Han Enzhen up the stairs to prevent their clothes from getting wet again. He then found a place to store the raft.

Tong Yao was examined in the hospital and had her wounds cleaned again. The result was satisfactory. She didn’t have any major problems and just needed more rest.

Guo Jinnian’s arm was seen to by the medical staff who reset and fixed her bone with a medical splint. After all the commotion, she was once again in much discomfort.

Through Guo Jinnian’s influence, they were all put in a room with two beds. Guo Jinnian occupied one, and Tong Yao and Han Enzhen shared the other. Si Chen and Fu Yiheng had to make do with sitting on chairs by the beds.

Having not slept well the previous night and being worn out from the past two days, Tong Yao felt relief and peace once she lied down. However, she didn’t lay there long before falling asleep and having a nightmare. In her dream, the foreign man grabbed her and pushed her into the water. The dream frightened her and made it difficult for her to breathe. Just as she felt she was about to drown, she suddenly woke up.

Si Chen, who was sitting by the bed, noticed Tong Yao’s disturbance almost immediately when she woke up. He softly asked, "Did you have a nightmare?"

Recognizing the hospital room and Si Chen at her side, Tong Yao felt a surge of relief and nodded. "I dreamt that the foreign man was holding me underwater and making me drink dirty water. I almost drowned."

Bearing the brunt of his aggression twice, Tong Yao only just realized how powerful her opponent was. Her previous encounters with the ladies from the residential compound were trivial compared to this. Against such an adversary, she was like a lamb ready for slaughter.
