Chapter 629: Chapter 629: Art Exhibition
As Han Enzhen thought about it, memories of the past made her flustered and a bit angry. She muttered, "Back then, he clearly didn’t think anything of me. Why is he showing up now? Really."
Tong Yao didn’t know the specifics of what had happened, all she could do was caution, "I heard he put out a newspaper ad looking for you, Enzhen. He might turn up at your art exhibition."
Han Enzhen was taken aback, responding in disbelief, "He looked for me? And put out a newspaper ad?"
This man was too strange. He had evidently dismissed her back then, now putting out a newspaper advert and such, what was he up to?
Tong Yao nodded, "Indeed, that’s the case. Ahchen said that several years ago, he put out a newspaper ad to look for a young girl and judging by his reaction at the sight of your painting, it must’ve been you."
Han Enzhen being startled to the point of trembling, she bolstered herself, replying, "He must be getting on in years, and hasn’t found a wife yet. Looking back, he probably thinks of me as a decent choice, an easy target, and having a powerful family as a backing, he has set his eyes on me again, I won’t even deign to look at him."
The corner of Tong Yao’s mouth twitched, how were Han Enzhen’s words related to Fu Sen?
"Just be careful, let’s go look at some paintings in the meantime," she said.
With that, Tong Yao entered the exhibition hall with Gu Hongwei and Guo Miaomiao. Han Enzhen wanted to help her but she couldn’t be inconsiderate and linger around Enzhen any longer.
She wouldn’t be capable of doing such a thing anyway.
Han Enzhen greatly admired Tong Yao’s propriety in approaching and withdrawing. However, whenever she thought about Fu Sen, her mind would begin to run wild. Just as she was zoning out, Chen Nanting approached.
"Enzhen, did you also invite Tong Yao over? I thought I saw her entering just now."
Han Enzhen nodded, "Tong Yao was invited by me today. Be nice to her, don’t be childish."
Chen Nanting huffed, "Why should I indulge her?"
Just looking at Tong Yao irked her. Here she was, pregnant but instead of resting at home, she was dressing up and attending such events, what was she up to?
Han Enzhen was somewhat irritated, "Nanting, today is my art exhibition, if you cause a scene, I won’t hesitate to stop being friends with you."
Upon hearing this, Chen Nanting became upset, "Enzhen, who exactly is your good friend? I was planning on buying one of your paintings today!"
However, Han Enzhen responded, "If you truly like it, then buy it. There’s no need to force it to maintain our friendship. This exhibition was organized by my family, you know this. If you cause any issues, it is going to upset my grandfather."
Chen Nanting didn’t expect Han Enzhen to invoke the sentiments of elders to repress her. Even though she was displeased, she didn’t dare to voice it. The status of the Han Family was not something the Chen Family could afford to offend.
Feeling unwell, Chen Nanting was tempted to leave, but remembering her parents’ expectations, she braced herself and entered the exhibition.
She had no interest in oil paintings. If her parents hadn’t assigned her the task, she wouldn’t have considered buying a painting.
Tong Yao was admiring the artwork when she caught sight of Chen Nanting entering but ignored her. Today was Han Enzhen’s opening exhibition. As a friend, regardless of any unpleasant history, it wasn’t a place to cause trouble. At least, Tong Yao was capable of maintaining such decorum.
Han Enzhen’s painting skills were outstanding, capturing the essence of her subject matter superbly. Those around them, whether they understood art or not, were generous with their praise.
Gu Hongwei and Guo Miaomiao were also appreciating the paintings with a serious demeanor. Absorbed as they were in studying the works, a staff member suddenly exclaimed with surprise, "All of Ms. Han’s artworks for today have been bought by a single wealthy businessman. He said that everyone is free to enjoy and admire the paintings, but he wants to take them all away once the viewing is over."
Everyone looking at the paintings was amazed and surprised, including Gu Hongwei and Tong Yao, who also found it quite unexpected. With the buyer of the paintings apparent, the shock was palpable.
Those paintings were all clearly priced, buying all would cost tens of thousands. They were bought by a single person?
Everyone around was guessing who was so wealthy, but Tong Yao and Gu Hongwei thought of Fu Sen. Even though it wasn’t a hundred percent certain it was him, it might simply be a businessman sucking up to the Han family.
Tong Yao had planned on buying a painting as well; she didn’t really understand oil paintings but liked them, and felt that Han Enzhen’s paintings were very meaningful and beautiful. Unexpectedly, all of them had been bought by someone else.
As she was thinking, Han Enzhen came over from outside, pulling Tong Yao excitedly, "Yaoyao, all my paintings have been bought. It seems, someone really does like my paintings. I was planning to participate in an exhibition in Hai City, but I lacked confidence. Now it seems, my paintings are quite good."
Tong Yao laughed in a crisp voice, "Congratulations, Enzhen. You will surely become a famous painter in the future."
Hearing this, Han Enzhen was even more delighted. She didn’t think about Fu Sen at all, impatient to meet the person who bought the paintings, "Yaoyao, I’m about to meet with the owner who bought the paintings, so I won’t have time to accompany you. Let’s have a meal together tomorrow. I made a lot of money from selling my paintings this time."
Tong Yao nodded, "You go ahead and busy yourself! Don’t worry about us, we’ll take a look and then head home."
Seeing the happiness on Han Enzhen’s face, Tong Yao didn’t remind her that the person who bought the paintings might be Fu Sen.
Han Enzhen nodded, just as she was about to speak, some high-end women came to greet her. She had to go deal with them.
Even though her grandfather helped in organizing the art exhibition and didn’t tell anyone, still, some interested parties knew about it. These people wouldn’t be anonymous, they would show up and make their presence known, even buying a painting or two.
Han Enzhen was well aware of this, she just hadn’t expected someone to buy all of her paintings. They surely liked her work very much.
Han Enzhen felt ecstatic. She sensed that her talent had been affirmed. Although she had received some awards overseas, she wasn’t completely confident in her abilities when in a different country. Now that someone had confirmed her talent, she was incredibly happy.
As the trio finished viewing all the paintings, they left to go home. Han Enzhen was busy attending to people who surrounded her, so Tong Yao didn’t disturb her.
As they were leaving, a portly man approached them, catching up with them to say hello, "You all seem to be friends with Miss Han, aren’t you?" 𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝙗.𝒄𝒐𝒎
Seeing the man was overly greasy, Gu Hongwei worried that he was trying to flirt with Tong Yao because of her attractiveness, so he directly stood in front of Tong Yao, "Yes, we are. What’s the matter?"
Noticing Gu Hongwei’s suspicion, the man quickly laughed and said, "Don’t misunderstand, I just wanted to make friends. My family owns a lamp factory, here is my business card."
As he spoke, the man pulled out a business card from his pocket, proving his identity as the boss of a lamp factory.
Participating in this exhibition was due to a tip-off from a friend. Sadly, he had no chance to interact with Han Enzhen. To add, a friend had warned him not to make his intentions too obvious, just buying a painting would suffice. In the end, he didn’t even get a chance to buy one.
