Chapter 655: Chapter 655 Si Yang, Tong Yue

Yu Shiya couldn’t help but cry, wiping her tears away, she lifted her chin and said, "Dad, don’t worry, I’ll make you proud. Even if I no longer work at the hospital, I’ll strive to be your pride and joy."

"You’ve always been our pride, regardless of your abilities, you’re still my daughter," Yu Zhengxiong thought of Si Jun and spoke earnestly, "Si Jun is a good kid, I can see that he still cares for you. Shiya, don’t just focus on the business, pay attention to your relationship with him too."

In this regard, Yu Zhengxiong and Tong Yaohui were very similar, they both loved their daughters. They worried that as they grew old and died, their daughters would be left without family by their side.

Being alone and helpless was a truly pitiful thing.

Upon hearing Si Jun’s name, she bit her lip and said, "Dad, as you know my current condition, even if I want to maintain our relationship, what if I still can’t have a child for several years? Would the Si Family accept that?"

Her father was likely to retire soon and without the title of Dean, he would lose much of his influence. How could the Si Family accept a daughter-in-law who couldn’t bear children?

Even in Si Chen’s family, Lin Fengying couldn’t accept Tong Yao’s infertility, let alone Si Jun’s family?

It was truly ironic. It had been Tong Yao who was childless, but now, by a twist of fate, she was the one who couldn’t have children.

Yu Shiya was smart and rational. She knew that marriage couldn’t last long without children, and Si Jun, under the pressure of family, wouldn’t be able to love her forever.

Even if Si Jun didn’t divorce her, if he had a child with another woman and asked her to raise the child, could she bear it?

She definitely couldn’t.

So now, Yu Shiya didn’t want to put all of her energy into these matters. She wanted to do business and be a strong woman like Tong Yao.

Yu Zhengxiong sighed, "Let’s leave these matters for another time. Remember, refrain from visiting for a while. Don’t worry about your mother either. It wasn’t her idea to steal the child. And it wasn’t for trafficking, so the consequences won’t be that serious."

Hearing these words, Yu Shiya breathed a sigh of relief, "Call me if anything happens."

After hanging up the phone and thinking about Yu Zhengxiong’s words, Yu Shiya was filled with regret. If she had known that the baby was Tong Yao’s, she would have...

Well, there was no point ruminating on that now that the child had been taken away. Besides, with her business about to take off, she didn’t have the energy to concern herself with Tong Yao’s affairs.

...

After resting for a night, Tong Yao felt much better. She was woken up by the baby’s crying in the morning and vaguely sensed someone picking up the baby from beside her. She assumed it was Wen Yun, but when she opened her eyes, she was startled and had to rub her eyes to confirm that the person standing by her bed was indeed Si Chen. Barely suppressing her urge to cry, her lips quivered.

Si Chen said, "Don’t cry, it’s bad for your eyes."

His gaze was filled with concern and love. He had arrived home at five in the morning. As Tong Yao had just had a baby and she was weak, she did not know that he had come home. He had come into the room to see Tong Yao and was then pulled out by Wen Yun, who told him about what had transpired in the past two days.

Upon hearing this, Si Chen felt even more sympathy for Tong Yao and was concerned about their daughter and Tong Yao’s health. He sat by Tong Yao’s bed, hoping that when she opened her eyes, he would be the first person she saw.

Si Chen had planned to return home in the middle of the month, just in time to be there before Tong Yao gave birth, but his plans were disrupted by unexpected events.

Tong Yao managed to hold back her tears and said plaintively, "Ahchen, we almost lost our daughter."

Si Chen nodded, looking at Tong Yao sympathetically, "I know, Mum told me."

At that moment, Wen Yun who heard the baby’s cries, entered the room. Seeing Si Chen standing by the bed holding the baby, she finally remembered that Si Chen had come home. She asked with concern, "Is the baby hungry?"

Tong Yao suddenly remembered that she hadn’t yet fed the baby. She smiled awkwardly, "It’s true what they say about ’three years of foolishness after childbirth’."

The baby was in Si Chen’s arms, gazing at him with open eyes. Seeing this, Tong Yao couldn’t help but laugh again, "She hasn’t looked directly at me for the past couple of days, and now that you’re back, she’s been staring at you. I bet she’s going to like you more than she likes me when she grows up."

Si Chen gently passed the baby to Tong Yao and said, "From now on, we will protect the both of you."

The ’both of you’ he mentioned referred to Tong Yao and their daughter.

Hearing the couple’s conversation, Wen Yun left the room and even thoughtfully closed the door behind her.

Tong Yao felt a bit shy about breastfeeding her baby in front of Si Chen. She asked him, "Can you turn around?"

Understanding her shyness, Si Chen complied and turned his back to her. With unpracticed movements, Tong Yao began to feed the baby. Seeing the baby gulping down the milk, her heart nearly melted.

She looked up to find Si Chen had turned back around. She blushed and called him a scallywag. After having been separated for so long, she really wanted to hug Si Chen but couldn’t, since she was holding the baby.

Si Chen looked at Tong Yao and the baby with a doting gaze. He seemed to understand what Tong Yao was thinking and moved to sit by her side. He passed his arm around her shoulders and asked softly, "Did you give her a name?"

Tong Yao felt warm inside. She shook her head gently and asked, "Not yet. We were all so preoccupied by our daughter’s situation these past few days that we haven’t had a chance to sit down and talk. Have you thought of a name?"

Si Chen answered, "Si Yang, Tong Yue, how do you like them?"

Si Chen had thought of the baby’s names long before. He came up with several names and had decided on these two after finding out Tong Yao was pregnant with twins.

Upon hearing the name Tong Yue, Tong Yao’s eyes immediately lit up. "Ahchen, are you planning to let our daughter take my surname?"

Si Chen nodded, "Yes. If you want our son to have your surname, and our daughter to have mine, or if you want both of them to have your surname, that’s fine. They’re our children after all."

In Si Chen’s eyes, as long as they were his and Tong Yao’s children, it didn’t matter what their surnames were.

Tong Yao was touched. She hadn’t expected Si Chen to be so considerate. "If my parents knew about your decision, they would be overjoyed. Let’s have our daughter take my surname! My parents are sensible people, they would definitely agree to have our son take your surname."

Although the Tong Family did not hold the traditional belief that boys were superior to girls, both Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun knew and understood that their son-in-law was not marrying into their family and they wouldn’t insist on their grandson taking their surname. To have a granddaughter with their family’s surname was already a huge joy for them.

The baby, just two days old, had a small appetite and quickly fell asleep after a short feed. After taking the baby from her arms and allowing her to lie down, Si Chen advised, "You rest a while longer. I’ll ask Sister Zheng to cook for you. I’m going to the hospital."

Their daughter was still in the hospital.
