Chapter 657: Chapter 656: Dr. Si has become an alcoholic

Si Chen reassured Wen Yun, hence she allowed Tong Yaohui to drink a little.

Originally, Sister Zheng wanted to serve lunch for Tong Yao in her room, but Tong Yao wanted to join everyone for a lively meal. So, Si Chen went in and helped Tong Yao out.

He spoke softly, "Recovering from normal childbirth is faster, some physical activity could be beneficial, but don’t overdo it. Also, avoid sitting for long periods which could lead to backaches. Make sure to use a cotton cushion on your chair."

Tong Yao marvelled at Si Chen’s change. Ever since she had given birth, the usually concise Si Chen had become increasingly long-winded. As she mused over this, she nodded and said," Why do we become so delicate after giving birth? People in foreign countries drink raw water in winter and they don’t suffer from Puerperal Disease even without confinement."

Si Chen gazed profoundly at Tong Yao and said softly, "The difference in lifestyle since childhood leads to difference in physical fitness. We cannot compare."

Tong Yao hummed as she sat down at the dining table. She had barely eaten a few bites when the baby in the room started crying. The crying woke up the other baby. Tong Yao, who had just become a mother, was beginning to experience the chaos of motherhood. Just as she was about to get up to feed her child, Si Chen stopped her.

"You eat first, I’ll look after the baby. You take your time, feed them after you’re done."

Saying this, Si Chen went to the room and Wen Yun followed to help with the babies. Surprisingly, the babies stopped crying as soon as they picked them up.

Wen Yun laughed and said, "This baby is just like Yaoyao when she was a baby. Demanding to be fed every time we sit to eat. Yaoyao, just concentrate on eating first. Once you’re full, then we cater to them. We can’t feed them unless you eat well! Moreover, you have to feed two"

Although she loves her grandchildren, she loves her daughter even more and she definitely will not allow these two children to drain her daughter’s energy.

Hearing this, Tong Yao laughed out loud," Mom, if you keep saying that, Ahchen would think that all of the children’s bad habits are because of me. I won’t accept this."

Hearing this, everyone broke into laughter. Sister Zheng came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands," Let me hold them, you guys can continue eating."

Si Chen shook his head, "You go and eat! We’ll hold them for a bit."

Wen Yun also said, "Si Chen will probably stay until Yao Yao has recovered from her confinement. Let him hold the baby for a while! Once he goes abroad, he will only be able to see pictures and hear their voices."

Hearing their responses, Sister Zheng didn’t insist on holding the baby and went back into the kitchen to eat. In her previous employment, she never ate with the employers and she maintained that habit here as well. She served herself some food and ate in the kitchen.

Even though she didn’t join them at the table, her daily meals here were much better than any of her past employers or even her own home. Therefore, she enjoyed working at Tong Yao’s home.

Tong Yao’s appetite was pretty good recently. She could eat two bowls of rice and a large bowl of soup in one meal. Though she was worried she might gain weight, she knew she needed to eat for the two babies, hence she didn’t make any attempts to lose weight. Luckily, she had a fast metabolism. Even though she ate a lot, she did not gain weight.

After eating, she took her daughter from Si Chen and began to feed her. The little one had quite an appetite and ate even more than Si Yang.

She fed like a hungry wolf at every meal, which made Tong Yao laugh at her lack of gentleness. During the confinement period, children generally only eat, and sleep so after feeding, Tong Yao also felt a bit sleepy and decided to nap with the baby.

Si Chen closed the door and returned to sit with Tong Yaohui for a drink. Tong Yaohui was in a great mood, he felt that this was the life he aspired for. His son-in-law and daughter were successful, they had children, and the whole family was sitting together happily, eating, drinking, and chatting.

This life that he had only dreamt of was now a reality.

His high spirits led him to drink a bit more, but Si Chen didn’t stop him. Tong Yaohui was in good health, and, as long as he kept his spirits high, there wouldn’t be any big problems. Maybe after a few years, the tumour might even shrink on its own.

He used the alcohol as an excuse to bring up the express delivery business. Tong Yaohui clearly expressed his support. He agreed that the young should fight for their career and felt that it was a good thing if Gu Hongwei wanted to start a business. He would give the money to Tong Yao and Si Chen and let them strive for it.

Gu Hongwei was moved by Tong Yaohui’s words. He was grateful to have met Si Chen and Tong Yao’s family, which allowed him to feel a sense of kinship in a foreign land and put him on the path to his dreams.

His mood made Gu Hongwei drink a bit more and even Si Chen had quite a few drinks. The two men who usually didn’t drink much had a little too much.

Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun helped Gu Hongwei to the guest room upstairs to rest, while Si Chen washed a few times to get rid of the smell of alcohol before returning to the room.

When Tong Yao saw Si Chen’s drunk face, she made a face and said jokingly, "Look at you, Doctor Si, you’ve become a drunkard."

Si Chen looked at Tong Yao’s delicate face, swallowed a few times, his voice hoarse, "Yaoyao, I truly had a great time today."

Tong Yao obviously understood. Looking at the big bed occupied by the three of them, she suddenly felt apologetic towards Si Chen. Now that they had children, the ’father’ didn’t even have a place to sleep.

Considering how much he had drunk, and how long his flight was, she suggested, "Ahchen, why don’t you rest in the guest room for now? There’s no place for you on the bed. Tomorrow, buy a small cradle for the kids and let them sleep there." 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶

No matter how other couples manage, Tong Yao had no intention of splitting her bed with Si Chen. Children were important, but so was the relationship between husband and wife.

She wasn’t calm during sleep and was afraid of squashing the kids. Sleeping in a cradle would be safer for them.

Si Chen shook his head and replied, "No need, I’ll sleep at this end. Tomorrow I will get a larger bed custom-made. Children feel more secure when sleeping next to their mother. We’ll let them sleep separately when they’re three years old."

At three years old, children can understand adult language and interact with adults, and hence, can sleep separately.

Having heard this, Tong Yao smiled. It seemed Si Chen and she were on the same page. She didn’t really want the children to sleep in the cradle either and definitely didn’t want to sleep separately from her husband.

So, Si Chen, who had drunk, decided to sleep near Tong Yao’s feet. Just so, Tong Yao’s feet were pressing against his chest. Seeing their whole family of four lying together in the bed, Tong Yao felt incredibly warm.
