Chapter 937: Chapter 67: How Many Giants Are There for One Meal?

Etheregar City.

The frost-white city walls, made of massive stones and bound together by ice and snow, soar nearly a kilometer high, piercing the clouds. The city gate, hewn from an entire mountain, appears rugged and weighty.

Two Giants with frost-blue skin are standing guard in front of the gate, bare-chested, with rough cloth and hide aprons tied around their waists, each holding a spear as thick as a telegraph pole.

Because this monotonous job is so unbearable, the two Frost Giants can’t help but chat a bit, to lift their sleepy spirits.

"Hey, buddy, I heard that a Chief God from Asa came to our city a few days ago and caused quite a stir."

"That’s right. Something like Thor, not so tall, but very full of himself, claimed that he alone could easily flatten our Giant Country. He wanted the newly appointed Lafei Your Majesty to quickly kneel in the Immortal Palace and show loyalty, to avoid him personally leading an army to campaign against us and slaughter us all."

"Isn’t that kid too arrogant, can you guys tolerate that?"

"Of course not! A hundred or so of our brothers who were guarding the gate got angry and wanted to teach that kid a lesson. But he did have some skills to be arrogant about; even with a hundred or so of us attacking him together, we still couldn’t beat him, and were all sent flying, now lying at home."

The older Frost Giant pointed to the brand-new stone gate behind him and said in a hushed voice,

"See that? It’s newly replaced. The old one was smashed into dust by that kid’s hammer, and then he went all the way to the Royal Palace, only stopping when he bumped into Lafei Your Majesty. If it weren’t for that kid injuring so many of our men, we wouldn’t just have the two of us guarding the gate."

The younger Frost Giant listened with his tongue clicking in astonishment:

"So what happened in the end? Who won?"

The older Frost Giant shot the younger one a disdainful look and said:

"Is that even a question? Of course, it was our Lafei Your Majesty who won. If even he had lost, wouldn’t the city be in turmoil because of that kid, instead of being as quiet as it is now?"

"Oh, you’re right," agreed the younger Giant.

The younger Frost Giant scratched the back of his head, finally understanding.

Seeing the young Frost Giant’s foolish and dazed expression, the older one couldn’t help but shake his head and sigh.

Ever since the Wisdom Giant Mimir defected and took away the source of the Wisdom Spring Water, the intelligence of newly born Frost Giants has been declining with each generation. Who would have thought that before the Nine Great Kingdoms were born, it was their Giant Clan that ruled the World?

But, that traitor himself did not end well. Rumors say he naively believed Odin’s lies, was decapitated by the Warner Divine Race, and now only a head is kept in the Immortal Palace, serving as a living database for Odin.

Thinking about this, a sense of satisfaction surged through the old Frost Giant’s heart.

No matter when or where, traitors are always more despicable than the enemy.

"What about that Thor, what happened to him?" the young Frost Giant asked curiously.

The old Frost Giant came back to his senses and replied with patience:

"It’s said that Lafei Your Majesty has him locked up in the ice dungeon underneath the Royal Palace."

"Why not just kill him?"

The old Frost Giant glanced at that young, impetuous face and replied irritably:

"He injured so many of our brothers, do you think we don’t want to? But he’s Odin’s son, a Chief God of Asgard. Killing him would mean full-scale war with the Immortal Palace, and we Frost Giants alone couldn’t withstand the army of the Immortal Palace."

The young Frost Giant, failing to understand, asked:

"Don’t we still have the Fire Giants, Mountain Giants, and Storm Giants? With so many of us, are we really afraid of the Immortal Palace?"

The Giant Clan has a rather large system, broadly distributed across three areas: Giant Country, Fire Country, and Mist Country.

First, there’s Giant Country. As the main habitat of the Giant Clan, it has a complex composition. The Frost Giant Clan has the most power and the largest population, followed by the Mountain Giant Clan. Together, they form the core of Giant Country, with a relatively complete social system and cultural heritage. In addition, a small number of Storm Giants roam or live scattered in the wilderness, with little presence.

Next is Fire Country. Here, a large number of Fire Giants live, but because Fire Giant King Surtr is sealed and the treasure Eternal Fire is missing, their strength is slightly weaker than that of Giant Country.

The last is Mist Country. As the most hostile environment with the most primitive ecology, it’s a lawless land where departed souls, Monsters, Evil Dragons, and Giants live together, barely considered territory of the Giant Clan.

If it came to all-out war, the Giant Clan, with three Great Kingdoms and four major races, might not fear the alliance of the Asa and Warner Divine Races.

Seeing the young Frost Giant’s indignant look, the old one could only spell it out:

"If it were just a territorial dispute, the Mountain Giant Clan and Fire Giant Clan would probably send troops to help, and the Storm Giant could also unite. But if it’s because we fought Thor to the death, leading to a desperate fight with the Immortal Palace, they wouldn’t necessarily want to get involved."

"Especially Mountain Giant King Xia Ji, since Lafei Your Majesty took the throne, he’s never come by, and has even established a new castle in the land of chaos, Solemheim, clearly not acknowledging Lafei Your Majesty’s rule. If we start fighting with the Immortal Palace, I’m afraid that the first thing we need to beware of is not the people from Asgard, but His Majesty the Mountain Giant King. Whether he would kick us while we’re down is really hard to say."

The young Frost Giant, only half-comprehending, struggled to process such complex interests and considerations from all sides, and could only shake his head in frustration, saying:

"Why do the Giants have to be as scheming as those Deities? If we united, we could regain control of the World."
