Chapter 123: 123
This was the conversation most heard after Ikem announcement, some apelings see this as an opportunity to prove themselves, some see it as an opportunity to gain fame and more power. But one thing they all had in common was they all could hardly wait for school to start so that they could show how much they have been holding back over the years.
Meanwhile somewhere in the eastern continent, Brix and Aqua and a few other treants are carrying out the new job they took upon themselves which was restoring the lands, and it has been proving effectful as a view from their starting point to where they are now can show far that they have come.
Life begins flourishing each time they are done with restoring a Forest, things going back to their natural way, now today they have found themselves before a very powerful invasive life forms. It was of no problem to brix and Aqua but for the other treants, it was quite dangerous.
It first started when they walked into this particular part of the forest, only to be met with a sight of trees with glowing leaves with the shape of an Ivy, it would have meant nothing if it was only one tree but the other trees around also have the same unfamiliar looking leaves.
This wasn’t their first time coming across invasive plants, before they got here they have met quite a few and with the new established connection with nature through their creator, they both perform a ritual which makes the plant become a life form no longer foreign to their world and its unique nature.
With that experience, they thought nothing of it as they all walked deeper into the forest, Aqua already established a connection and felt the mastermind of the strange happening was just a bit further in the forest, the closer they got to the forest the more they began noticing a large amount of spores floating in the air.
Once Brix felt the effect of the Spores, he was about to scream out "Stop" when all of a sudden he was covered with water as a branch with metallic sheen moved quickly toward him but was blocked by the water coverage.
Looking around with caution, Brix noticed that the treants around them were undergoing quick transformation in their eyes. The leaves on the treant now took similar shape as an ivy plant. "The spores seem to be some form of parasite," Aqua said as he moved towards Brix.
"I can see that, it seems the main body got nervous seeing us getting so close" Brix said as he stood back to back with Aqua as they are now both surrounded.
Aqua looked at his companions "We can’t hurt them so once if we should focus on holding them off while the other head for the main body" Aqua suggested.
Brix nodded, his brow furrowed in concern. "We need to act fast and If these spores continue to spread, they’ll overrun the entire forest."
Aqua scanned their surroundings, his eyes sharp with determination. "Agreed. We have to find the source and put an end to it before it’s too late."
Once that agreed on that, Brix stomped the earth with his foot causing a small earthquake which threw off the Treants surrounding them using that opportunity, Aqua ran deeper into the forest where it felt the main body was.
The treants soon gathered their steps as roots sprouted from their legs giving them a firm hold to the ground, one of the treants who bears a similar look to Aqua raised it arms jerky and unnaturally as it began firing off Ice towards Brix.
Brix responded swiftly by raising a stonewall blocking the torrent of ice, the treant with the metallic sheen morphed on of its hand into a sword as it swiftly cut the stone wall in half only to be met with a site of Brix who arms was also morphed but now like a cannon.
From the hole in Brix arms, a huge stone ball was shouted out with a quick speed as it impacted with the body of the metallic treant quickly throwing it off its feet and sending it flying.
The same was done with the other water treat who was also met with a similar quick stone ball, unlike the metallic treant the stone ball tore apart the treant body as it went through it.
The other trants didn’t have any elemental attributes but they weren’t stumped but were also attacking in their own way as roots grew out from Brix feet holding him to the ground, while they made their way to him with their jerky movement.
Not wanting to find out what they plan on doing, from the back of brix grew out root tendrils. At the end of the the root tendrils were stone shone shaped knife with sharp edges, like a whip the roots tendrils sliced cleanly through the roots holding him down, at the same time brix put his free hand to the ground as the ground beneath the five treant around opened up quickly swallowing them up and closing just as quickly with only their heads atop.
Sitting crossed legged, Brix watched as his companions struggled to break through but he just wasn’t simply sitting there instead he was sending mana strengthening the earth holding the treants so the can’t break off easily.
"It’s all up to you now Aqua" Brix thought to himself as he looked back to the forest. 𝚗ovp𝚞b.𝚌om
Meanwhile moments back after Aqua broke through their encirclement with the help of Brix, he quickly made his way towards the main body part, the closer he got the more spores there were around but it wasn’t affecting him instead it was being an annoyance to him.
Suddenly, a sinister laughter echoed through the trees, catching Aqua off guard "There," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the cacophony of the forest. "The source of this corruption."
A weird figure emerged from the dense foliage, its form weird and unnatural, it was a humanoid mushroom like figure with its mushroom crown made of Ivy like leaves. "So, this world has other plant-like form like me," it sneered, its voice dripping with malice and surprise.
Aqua stepped forward, his eyes clearly showing his confusion "You can talk ’’ Aqua surprise is understandable as this was the first invasive life form he had meant that can communicate with.
The creature laughed again, its voice echoing like a sinister symphony. "Foolish threats. You aren’t the only plant life form gifted with the ability to speak. Now why do you intrude upon my claimed land"
Aqua found the creature animosity and its words weird but keeping to his job as a guardian he spoke "My world experienced a disaster a few months back, and life forms like yours have also been spread around with the disaster. We understood that this is a new world for you so we reach out to help to help welcome you officially"
"Hmm, I don’t need your welcome. I already made this place mine" The mushroom man spoke.
"You truly need it, because as you are now you are a threat to the very nature of our world. you are foreign but with our help you no longer have to be seen as foreign existence but as one of us" Aqua patiently said as he looked at the mushroom looking man.
"Foolish treant. You don’t seem to understand, you cannot stop the inevitable. My spores will spread across this new land, taking over anything in their path, so I have no use for your welcome" the mushroom man laughed as he spread his arms apart.
Aqua eyes narrowed at the words "So if i am to guess this right, you don’t plan on cooperating and it seems you also have no plans on letting my companions go free"
"Exactly, I still don’t understand why you and the other treant haven’t gotten under my control yet but since you are here. I don’t plan on letting you go" The mushroom said as the root tendrils with gray spines grew out from the ground around him.
With a swift speed one of the tendril moved towards Aqua who easily took it by wrapping his arms around the tendril and pulling it but soon Aqua expression changed as let go of the tendril at the same time an ice sword formed in his other hand that he quickly used to cut off his other hand.
The arm quickly grew back but Aqua frowned as he looked at the cut off arm on the ground turning to spores "So don’t let him get close with that" Aqua thought to himself as the ice sword he formed left his hand and began floating in the air.
The mushroom smirked at Aqua as he gestured with his palm outwards casing huge wave of poisonous tendrils to quickly move towards him, The ice sword quickly began rotating easily shredding the tendrils, with a burst of speed Aqua appeared in front of the mushroom man who screamed out in fear and surprise.
