Chapter 164: 164
After saying that, Ikenga opened up a portal and went through it, with the other gods following behind. Soon, they entered Ikenga’s realm, appearing in front of two colossal beings that currently dwarfed them in height.
Crepuscular was taken aback by the scene as he flew closer to get a better look at the sleeping Osisi and Boros. Even Keles and Jaws flew closer to inspect. "Why do you show us this, brother?" Crepuscular asked as he flew back to Ikenga.
"You wanted to know what was happening, and these two were a part of it," Ikenga replied, sitting cross-legged mid-air.
"I believe Mother is also listening now, so you all can go and confirm my words with her later," Ikenga added thoughtfully.
"To understand what happened, it is important to remember the divinity I was bestowed upon birth. Because of the nature of my second divinity, only one was very prevalent, which is my nature divinity," Ikenga explained.
"This divinity, like your own other divinities, pertains to the natural rule and way of our world. But my second divinity doesn’t, as it is still something abstract, not fully comprehended and not yet fully recognized by anyone. I believe when I introduced curses into the world, I mentioned something about how mortals have something called blessings, which is when they wish each other well."
"And the opposite wish is when they wish each other bad. Both are still something abstract and yet have no meaning or effect on reality itself. That, I believe, is something that changed with my birth and being granted the divinity of curses. My divinity of curses made bad wishes now something that can have an effect on reality itself," Ikenga explained, pointing at his tattoo.
Jaws was the first to speak up. "So in your words, brother, if one of us has been born with the divinity of blessing, which is a good wish, then when something good is wished upon people, it will have an effect because of the divinity existing?"
Ikenga nodded. "But I believe there is a need for a way in which these good wishes have to be delivered to the person. In my case, I use cursed souls," Ikenga said as he grabbed at the void, catching hold of a cursed spirit which he showed to the gods.
Crepuscular took hold of the cursed spirit with a pensive look on his face. "So those monsters are those who have been wished bad upon, and this spirit becomes the catalyst for their transformation?" he asked, pointing at the cursed spirit.
Ikenga nodded once again before Crepuscular huffed, looking at Ikenga. "What a pointless thing you have done, brother."
Ikenga smirked at the rebuke before spreading his arms apart while looking up to the sky. "It may seem pointless to you, brother, but I have never felt so complete with my divinity fully awakened. Besides, you, among everyone, should know of its capabilities."
Crepuscular thought back to the scene of Ikenga dodging him before saying, "We have to run that back, I doubt you can’t be touched."
"Anytime, brother, just say the word," Ikenga said as both he and Crepuscular smiled at each other.
"But seriously, I had another goal in creating this curse," Ikenga said with a serious tone, catching the other gods’ attention.
"You all should have seen the war on Mahu’s side. If one thing that war showed us was that humans are weak. They barely were of help during the war; only those connected to the gods were able to make any influence," Ikenga said but was interrupted by Keles who spoke up.
"I don’t see why that is a problem. Both parties are winning from this bargain," she said.
"True, sister, but for how long will this go on? With the ascendance of Björn, there will be many others following right behind, including our children. The mortal world will be left bare with no one able to fight back and hold off the demons and their pawns," Ikenga retorted.
"How is your curse able to be of help then?" Mahu asked the question all gods were now curious to know.
Ikenga smiled as he pinched a cursed spirit in his hands. "There are indeed some capable mortals, but in the grand scale of things, they can’t pose any threat to a demon with all their extensive knowledge."
"Our godling races have figured out a way for them to avoid the troubles that come with mana training, but most humans haven’t, except for those led by demons. These humans struggle to gain strength, but with my cursed spirit, if you can resist the effect of the curse and retain your sanity, it, in turn, becomes a strength."
"My cursed spirit came from the dead souls of my grandchildren, and these cursed spirits also have inside of them the talents of apelings’ souls they came from. Maintaining control of a cursed spirit, in turn, gives you those talents, putting the human at the top when it comes to talent." Ikenga said with a smile on his face.
Jaws with a thinking look on his face said "What if after the humans learn of the cursed spirit and how it works, and they stop wishing bad on each other or resent one another as they now know the consequence of doing that, doesn’t that make the cursed spirit pointless"
Ikenga began laughing hearing that, they don’t have memories of past live like him and they have never been human "That won’t happen brother and even if it does, all it take is for one person to grab control of their cursed spirit and show others its benefit"
Waving his hand a screen appeared to show a human kingdom where human students can be seen in learning about mana and the elements, soon the screen turned to show the scene of human warriors waving their sword sweating and trying their best to gain something in the process.
The screen changed once again, showing the sight of the apeling kingdom, specifically a home where an apeling can be seen opening a bottle with a blue liquid in it that it proceeds to swallow and begins sitting crossed leg and absorbing the mana around.
The scene changed once again to a train ground, where two apeling can be seen combating with each other, throwing out magic spells soon they both got tired where two other students close by were waiting as a magic circle appeared in their hands healing them up.
The screen continued changing, letting the other gods know between the godling race and the human race and how far apart they are. Crepuscular had a look of disgust on his face "Why do we let the humans occupy lands when they don’t have the strength to keep it, their existence seems to be nothing but a burden"
Keles chuckled before speaking up "They are not all that useless, the strength we gain from their prayer speaks volume of their usefulness"
Ikenga waved again as the screen changed to show a human kingdom, greater than even the silver kingdom on Mahu’s side. Every god present knows for a fact that this is the strongest human kingdom currently in their world.
This kingdom even with all the human powerhouses in it isn’t led by a human, instead it was led by an Elf who made its way into the planet the same way as the demons. Unlike the demons who drastically change the physiology of the humans they lead. Erik did no such thing as the humans were kept pure with no alienation.
A view of the kingdom showed how their lives are the same as the godling race, at the same time the screen changed to show a huge creature covered in huge wings sleeping on someone close to the kingdom. Almost like the creature knew it was being watched, it opened its sleepy eyes when a look of recognition flashed across its eyes as the dragon bowed its head.
Waving away the scree, Ikenga said to his sibling "I showed you all this to let you know that humans are not one known to ever let their condition stay permanent"
"Even if they recognise the catalyst of the cursed spirit, you will be surprised to see humans who will actively act to see to it that they are wished bad upon or acquire the ire of others in exchange for power" Ikenga said.
The gods fell silent only for crepuscular to speak up, his tone no longer prideful instead serious as he said "I could see the potential in your goal brother and I like it, If the humans die fighting off the demons instead of our godling race then nothing makes me happier but" He said waving his hand as Erik kingdom appeared once again.
"This human kingdom provides us with less amount of prayer than any other on this world, because of their arrogance and small power. If your goal succeeds and more talented humans are spawned what stops them from becoming like the people of this kingdom" Crepuscular asked.
Ikenga chuckled before saying "I understand what you are saying brother but I fear me, keles and Jaws won’t be facing this problem. You fear of the humans no longer worshiping us and which in turn leaves us to grow stronger slowly"
