Chapter 91: 91
If someone had been paying attention to Felix, the would notice how his expression has been changing the more he heard Molte talk, "Which body part of mine merged with a magical animal, or rather it should be called a demon beast by now"
"From Molte’s words, this demon beast has already achieved a lot more than I could at the moment, should I seek it out or not" Felix thought to himself as he looked around.
"But thinking back on our nature as divided demon, It will lead to a fight on who will take over or merge with the other, I may be stronger in strength now but it has more soldiers and demon beast around it which will prove to be a problem" Felix thought to himself while outwardly looking like he was listening.
Clenching his arms, Felix thought "I might have to hold off on my thought of causing a problem"
Meanwhile Ursula was looking at Molte who was giving out the information, before asking with a furrowed brow, "This is indeed troubling news, Molte. The sudden changes in animals and their aggressive behavior could pose a significant threat to our people if no attention is paid to. The fact that they have organized and taken control of parts of the western continent is even more alarming."
Ursula glanced at Felix, sensing a shift in his demeanor. "Felix, do you have any insights into this matter?"
Felix meanwhile hearing his name called out by Ursula, "Oh shit, did i do something to expose myself"
Gathering himself, Felix looked at Ursula, "Nothing your highness, I was just disturbed that something like this is happening and someone of us like myself has no idea it was happening"
Ursula said nothing but continued looking at him, "Everyone doesn’t need to know which is good as it can raise distress among our people"
"Indeed your highness" Felix said while letting out a breath as he noticed Urusla’s attention turn away from him.
Ursula nodded thoughtfully, "We need more information before deciding on our course of action. Molte, assemble a team to investigate the affected areas. Send out scouts first and then arrange for those who are well-versed in things of magical nature. We need to understand the origin and purpose of these changes’’
Iris hearing Ursula arrangement, raised her hand as Ursula gestured for her to speak "If i may your highness, from what elder Molte said, even regular magical creatures are turning into such beast, what if the purple mist was the catalyst for that"
Iris’ words caused the council to turn quiet as everyone began thinking seriously about her words "What are we to do then Iris" Ursula asked.
"Nothing your highness, but for the safety of our people, those that go into the purple mist for research should be kept at a distance for observation to see if there’s any changes before letting them back into our people" Iris said as she looked around.
"What do you think of her words, Molte?" Ursula asked Molte who was nodding his head to Iris’ words.
"I agree with her words, your highness, I will see to it to arrange things accordingly" Molte said as he bowed towards Ursula.
Meanwhile Felix took a sneak glance at Iris, "I should stay clear of her, she is too smart, hell everyone in this council is scary"
"Since that is decided, Molte, what was the other news you wanted to share" Ursula asked as she looked at Molte.
"Right away, your highness. This news concerns our previous neighbor human, specifically two humans named Erik and Silas" Ursula hearing Molte mention humans perked up.
Molte, seeing he got his mother’s attention, nodded "Mother. It seems that the fortunes from the sky have played a pivotal role in shaping the destinies and life of many not just our people but these two individuals. Erik, the son of the former leader of his settlement, who stumbled upon a mysterious spear at the heart of his settlement. Since then, reports suggest a significant transformation in him, both in character and appearance. He’s not only leading his settlement but also expanding their influence by taking control of other settlements, albeit in a seemingly benevolent manner."
Ursula raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Benevolent conquests, you say? That’s an unusual combination. Tell me more about Erik and his methods."
"First something you might want to hear your highness, coming from the human females close to Erik, supposedly Erik claims that he has to quickly raise an army to fight back a future enemy, according to the humans is called "demon"
Felix, hearing that, was trying so hard to not show any visible reaction as he continued looking at Molte like the other council member who seemed intrigued by the news.
"Demon, that is a new word. Does he know where this his future enemy is coming from and where it will come from" Ursula asked amused.
Molte with a mocking smile on his face said "We believe mother, that this is his way to righteously claim the action of his conquering journey"
Molte continued, "And, Mother. It appears that Erik, despite his newfound power and ridiculous claim, is considered relatively fair and just. He has managed to unite several settlements under his leadership through diplomacy and strategic alliances. The people speak of him as a charismatic figure, and many willingly join his cause. It’s a stark contrast to the other figure in this tale – Silas."
Ursula leaned forward, her interest growing. "Silas, you say? How does his story differ?"
Molte’s expression turned somber. "Silas, like Erik, found a similar treasure from the sky, no clue if it was a weapon or not. But he is a lot stronger and has also changed a lot in physical appearance. However, the similarity ends there. Silas, unlike Erik, has chosen a path of brutality. Reports indicate that he is ruthless in his conquests, showing no mercy to those who resist. His methods have instilled fear in the settlements he has taken control of, and the people under his rule live in constant dread."
Ursula sighed, contemplating the implications of this news. "Two sides of the same coin, it seems. The fortunes from the sky have granted power, but the choices made by these two individuals differs heavily"
What of the other settlements in the western part?As we all know the western continent is huge, How are they faring?"
Molte replied, "Nothing significant with them, but with the pace the two humans and transformed creatures are going, soon other settlement will be dragged into the conflict and have to chose sides or maybe be killed off by the transformed beast. Either way, if both continue this way they will begin to encroach into our territory"
"That is a big claim, Molte. The humans won’t dare as they should already know of the territory that belongs to us" Ursula said, cutting Molte off.
"Maybe your highness, but the possibility of the humans believing they have enough power and men to stand against us still is up for debate" One of the elders named Bernad spoke up.
"Men maybe but power, don’t tell me you believe the weapons they got from the sky is enough, even if it is enough they still have no idea how to bring out the weapons strength" Ursula said to defend her words.
Molte cleared his throat hearing that, "that is something i want to bring up, Some how the humans under Erik are able to use the weapons with out no effect or consequences like they should showing they somehow gained knowledge to use them"
Hearing Molte’s words got Ursula silent, she wants to believe the humans aren’t going to attack them but "what if" Ursula thought to herself.
"Better safe than sorry, My people over humans no matter how much i like them. Ursula nodded thoughtfully. "Keep a close eye on these developments, Molte. We must understand the dynamics at play among humans. Their choices may impact our own course of action in the future"
Molte nodded in agreement, "I will dispatch scouts to observe their movements closely. It’s crucial for us to stay informed about their alliances, strategies, and any potential threats they might pose."
Ursula turned her gaze towards Bernad, the elder who had expressed concern earlier. "Bernad, do what you do best. We need to discuss the possible scenarios and prepare a contingency plan. We can’t afford to be caught off guard if the humans decide to expand into our territory"
Bernad said nothing as he stood up before saying something that surprised everyone "I believe i have an idea on how we should go about on the human problem and instead give our full focus on the transformed beast"
Ursula, hearing that looked at Bernard and gestured for him to continue, "Like your highness said, the western part is huge and humans can be found anywhere as they were here before us. Which is why i believe we should introduce a third party into this conflict of Erik and Silas"
