Chapter 259: Chapter 260 Preparations Before Manufacturing
At noon, everyone was still eating meat from the Sabertooth Beast, as the newly hunted game had not been processed yet.
Upon seeing this, Uncle Lini was so anxious that he was about to burst.
"Su Tang, when can we start making smoked meat? It’s quite hot in the valley, and the game won’t keep for long! If we don’t handle it quickly, it will rot away soon!"
Su Tang also understood the seriousness of the situation and immediately nodded. "Don’t worry Uncle Lini, we will start preparing to smoke the meat this afternoon. It’s my first time doing so, and I am not very sure if it will be successful or not, but let’s give it a shot!"
Yuanyuan and Meng Ze had not yet found the plant she wanted, so without steam, she had no way to process the large chunks of meat.
The only option was to cut the meat into long thin strips, marinate it with a layer of salt, and then smoke it over the fire until it dried up.
Although this method also worked, the smoked meat strips were like snacks to the Beastmen, and they consumed a lot of salt!
Beastmen had been taking turns making salt at the sea, and since salt doesn’t spoil, the more the better!
Moreover, the sea in Beast World was unspoiled and contained no debris. The salt derived from it was faintly green and tasted much better than the salt they had previously obtained from the Antelope Tribe!
They weren’t sure if it was due to the sea salt, but everything made with it tasted particularly fresh!
So, after eating roast meat at noon, Yuanyuan and the others rested for a little while before Su Tang chased them out to continue looking for the plant.
Meanwhile, Su Tang enlisted Aunt Hongguo’s help to prepare the smoked meat!
When the Beastmen in the tribe learned of this, they were extremely excited. Their enthusiasm to work had greatly increased, and they performed every task Su Tang assigned them diligently and efficiently!
In no time at all, the desired meat strips and drying racks were ready!
Su Tang looked to Huang Guo and said, "You take some Beastmen and bring over a few of the pottery pots that were fired this morning."
"Okay, Tangtang!"
Su Tang then looked to Uncle Lini, "Uncle! We need a lot of firewood! The more, the better!"
Uncle Lini nodded, "It’s all prepared, I’ll have someone bring it over now!"
Su Tang was slightly nervous, taking several deep breaths in succession.
Gaiyin patted her shoulder, "I believe in you! Don’t be nervous! You can do it!"
Su Tang gave him a small smile, "Yes, I’ll be fine."
She paused for a moment, then looked up at Gaiyin, "I’ll be here all afternoon, so if you have other plans, feel free to go. Don’t worry about me!"
Instead of refusing, Gaiyin nodded, "Alright then, will you be okay here by yourself?"
Su Tang gave him a radiant smile, "I’m not a child... not a cub anymore! Why wouldn’t I be okay? Besides, Aunt Hongguo and the others are here to keep me company!"
Gaiyin still seemed uneasy, he looked to Uncle Lini and said, "I have to go out, please take good care of her!"
Uncle Lini expressed his affirmation through a firm nod, "Don’t worry! I’m here! No one will be able to harm her!"
Gaiyin’s eyes again landed on Su Tang, he stared intensely at her for a while before exhaling, and tightly held her in his arms.
If it weren’t for the danger, Gaiyin would really want to take Su Tang with him!
"Ayin?"
Gaiyin let go of Su Tang, ruffled her hair, "It’s alright, I’ll be back soon! Don’t worry!"
"But..."
Even though Su Tang wanted to say something more, she was interrupted by Gaiyin.
