Chapter 260: Chapter 261: Smoked Meat

Su Tang wanted to say something more, but Gaiyin interrupted her.

"Look, they are back. Quickly go teach them what to do. I’ll be back soon! Don’t worry!"

Su Tang turned her head, and sure enough, she saw Huang Guo leading a few Beastmen coming this way.

Though she was still a bit anxious, she reassured herself that Gaiyin was a Level 5 Divine Brave Warrior, and there was not much that could hurt him. So, she felt a bit calmer.

She voiced her concern earnestly, "Be careful when you’re out there alone. I’ll be waiting for you to return to the Tribe..."

After finishing her sentence, she tiptoed and pecked him on the cheek like a dragonfly touching the water’s surface. Feeling his intense gaze, she quickly stepped back.

"I...I should get going ... Go and come back soon!"

Gaiyin suddenly clenched Su Tang’s wrist. His eyes faintly sparked.

Surprised, Su Tang nearly jumped up, "What... What are you doing? The tribesmen are watching, don’t cause a scene..."

Gaiyin’s throat bobbed, the corner of his lips hooked up, but in the end, he didn’t say anything and let go of Su Tang.

As if afraid Gaiyin would grab her again, Su Tang hastily stepped back.

Feeling his burning stare, Su Tang’s cheeks turned bright red. She turned her back to Gaiyin and pretended to chat with Huang Guo calmly.

Soon, that feeling disappeared. Su Tang looked around and indeed, Gaiyin was nowhere to be seen. Her heart suddenly felt empty.

This was the first time they had been separated after a month...It felt...strange...

Habits were truly a terrifying thing!

"Tangtang? What’s wrong? Are you okay?"

Hearing Huang Guo’s voice, Su Tang quickly shook her head, "I’m fine..."

"Everyone, help me build up the fire. We don’t need to use the ceramic pot. Set the rack above the fire, but don’t let the fire touch it. Pour all the sliced meat into the ceramic pot... Aunt Hongguo, where’s the salt?"

Everyone began to take action.

Su Tang grabbed two handfuls of salt and sprinkled it evenly onto the surface of the meat slices. "There you go, just sprinkle it on. It will all get marinated once we mix it!"

She observed the tribespeople’s actions attentively. Seeing everyone performing their tasks dutifully, she felt grateful in her heart.

Then, Su Tang washed her hands, put them into the ceramic pot, and started to mix and knead the meat slices.

She explained to the everyone, "We need to make sure that the salt is evenly attached to the surface of the meat. After the meat is dried, the salt on the surface will protect it from spoiling. As long as it’s stored correctly, it’ll last until the end of winter, no problem!"

Upon hearing Su Tang’s explanation, everyone became eager. Their eyes were sparkling at the sight of the meat!

This was their food for the winter!

The thought of having meat to eat during the cold months made the Beastmen feel invincible!

After being soaked in salt, the meat slices in the ceramic pot began to shrink, and a faint fishy smell was mixed with the red blood water.

No one was put off. At Su Tang’s behest, they hung the meat slices one by one and placed them over the fire, just out of reach of the flames.

Aunt Hongguo stood by with a worried face, "Tangtang, is this all we need to do? Could the smoked meats really last until the end of winter?"

Su Tang was initially unsure, but after seeing the meat slices on the fire shrink, and some even had white salt frost forming, she finally nodded with conviction.
