Chapter 382: Chapter 383: Beach Barbecue

The meat of the Deer-horned Beast was tender and juicy. After Gaiyin had cleaned it up, following Su Tang’s instruction, he chopped it into small chunks.

Su Tang boiled some water with the available seasonings, added some salt, and let it cool before marinating the meat with it.

Soon after, she steamed a large pot of rice, planning to make rice balls to accompany the meal. Otherwise, their voracious eater, Gaiyin, would scoff down all the barbecued meat all by himself.

While steaming the rice, she also steamed two pieces of Smoked meat. She had never tasted it since she had made it.

She soaked some mushrooms, sliced some Earth Fruit, and set them aside. The last few days she had been shut in the house, she managed to steam many big Mantou, which she also sliced and put aside.

After rummaging for a while more in the house and not discovering anything else suitable for a barbecue, she finally gave up.

She asked Gaiyin to conjure up many skewers, and started to thread the prepared food onto them. Skewering proved to be an unexpectedly arduous task, as one skewer could not hold much, and some parts were even impervious to it, thus proving time-consuming and labor-intensive.

In contrast, Gaiyin could easily skewer the food as if he were simply threading tofu. Su Tang felt a twinge of envy at the difference in their skill levels.

"Oho~ What delicious food are you preparing now? It seems like I arrived just in time," said Yadang, standing by the window, looking at Su Tang through the window.

Su Tang waved him in, "Why are you here? Come in quickly, it’s cold outside."

Yadang came in, "Can I help you with anything?"

Su Tang nodded, "Sure, wash your hands first. Afterward, help me thread these ingredients."

Yadang didn’t ask any further, washed his hands and came over to sit by the dining table and help in threading.

With Yadang joining them, she delegated the task of threading the meat to him and Gaiyin, while she took care of threading the mushroom slices, earth fruit slices, and the Mantou slices. 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚

After half a morning’s effort, they finally got all the ingredients ready.

The temperature inside her Space was constant, so she kept all the ingredients inside. Before heading out, she fed Hua Sheng a portion of Egg Custard, wrapped them up thoroughly in warm clothes, then set out.

...

The beachfront was also covered in snow, only the areas near the shore were left exposed by the ebb and flow of the seawater.

There was a bit of wind here, carrying the unique salty smell of the sea, which, even though a bit chilly, did not feel piercing-cold.

Gaiyin cleared a spot on the ground with his tail, set up a barbecue stand, and filled it up with ignited charcoal.

Su Tang placed the ingredients onto the barbecue stand and using a small brush made from Tusk Beast Fur, dipped it in oil, and applied it evenly on the ingredients.

"It smells so good, it looks delicious!"

Su Tang gave Yadang a sidelong glance, "Could you smell it the moment I put it on?"

Yadang smiled sheepishly, "That’s because I trust your cooking skills."

Shaking her head in resignation, Su Tang found a spot clear of snow, took out several big Beast Skins from her Space and spread them on the ground, and put Hua Sheng on it.

Despite growing up eating the same food, at their apparent ages of five or six, Hua Mo knew how to walk, but Hua Sheng still only babbled ’aba aba’ incessantly.

She patted her head, "Play nicely here, don’t run around--" Saying this, she casually handed her a bone-shaped wooden teething stick. The wood was polished smooth and won’t hurt her mouth.

As the charcoal grilled the skewers, oil started to drip from them, sizzling as it hit the burning charcoal. Su Tang flipped the skewers, and Gaiyin, standing beside her, followed suit.
