Chapter 468: Chapter 469: Old Affairs 6
"Stinky Aqin, stop right there! I’ll show you what I can do, how dare you laugh at me, your elder sister!"
Aqi, distracted by Hai Qin, had already completely forgotten about the issue with the Long-eared Beast.
Neither Lord Wen nor Hai Qin paid it much mind either.
...
Not far from their dwelling in the cave, there stood an incredibly imposing Giant Tree. Its roots were thick and twisted, and on the branches, wrist-thick vines entangled.
A Beastman was lazily leaning against the trunk, toying with an adorably ugly item in his hand. Upon inspection, isn’t that the very Long-eared Beast that Aqi had misplaced earlier?
Aqi’s yelling echoed into the forest; the Beastman peered through the dense branches with a slight smile on his lips, a hint of amusement flickered in his navy-blue eyes.
He stretched languidly, lightly drawing a circle in the air with his raised hand. A light blue glow emanated from his fingertips, forming a small whirlpool in the air.
In his hand was the Long-eared Beast, formed from tree sap. He extended his hand into the whirlpool. When he took it back, the Long-eared Beast was nowhere to be seen.
He jumped down from the tree quickly and smoothly, turning around and walking in the opposite direction from the cave.
By dinner time, Aqi noticed the Long-eared Beast back on the rock, her eyes wide with disbelief!
"Look! How did it reappear? I clearly searched everywhere and couldn’t find it, how could it suddenly turn up here?"
Hai Qin only shrugged, "You probably didn’t search carefully enough earlier, that’s why you couldn’t find it."
Aqi frowned, "It can’t be, I’m sure I checked every corner of this cave. It’s so weird..."
Lord Wen, who was adding wood to the fire, paused slightly. Then, with a wary look, he fixed his gaze on the cave entrance. Hai Qin also suddenly became alert.
They shared a glance, nodded at each other, then in a state of alert, carefully moved towards the cave entrance.
Just as they stepped out, they noticed the bushes outside the cave rustling, a figure darted by.
Without a word, Lord Wen strode forward and Hai Qin followed suit. With hardly any effort, they captured the shadows lurking about.
Once they had been brought back to the cave, their hands and feet were firmly tied with metal ropes.
Hai Qin looked at the two with suspicion, "Who are you? Why are you sneaking around our cave? What are you looking at?"
One of the Beastmen on the ground hurriedly replied, "We’re sorry, we didn’t know you were living here. We thought it was Kasuo living here..."
The other Beastman nodded, "Yes, once we realized it wasn’t Kasuo, we were about to leave. We didn’t mean to disturb you. We didn’t mean any harm."
Lord Wen frowned, "So who are you exactly? And who is Kasuo?"
The Beastman began, "We are Beastmen from the Sky Swallowing Python Clan. I’m Nanding, and this is my brother Xiding. Kasuo is a betrayer from our clan. Our leader has issued a bounty for Kasuo!"
Xiding added, "This cave used to be Kasuo’s dwelling. When we saw light from here, we thought Kasuo had returned, so we came to check."
Hai Qin and Lord Wen looked at each other. Although their story sounded plausible, something felt off.
Aqi curiously asked, "Why is this Kasuo a betrayer of your tribe? Did he do something harmful to your tribe?"
