Chapter 636: Chapter 639: I Warm Your Hands for You

When Chiyan opened his eyes again, he found himself alone, with a throbbing pain in his back and throat.

He wanted to drink water, but no one was in the Cave, so he crawled down from the stone bed and walked towards the exit of the Cave.

The outside was chaotic, with cries echoing everywhere—

The majority of the Beastmen were wounded. Their bodies were blackened by fire, with varying degrees of burns. The bright red wounds contrasted against the uncleaned skin around them, leaving a heart-wrenching view.

Everyone sat desolately to one side, wrapped in a heavy depression.

Chiyan was a bit flustered for a moment. What happened? How did this happen?

His gaze swept around, and he finally saw Ayu in the arms of Aunt Jin Se. Ayu was timidly nibbling on a piece of Roast Meat, his large eyes displaying a hint of panic and loss.

Right beside them, his mother was crying so hard that she could hardly breathe, a sight of sorrow that Chiyan had never seen before.

Where’s father?

Why can’t I see him?

Whenever his mother cried, his father would always comfort her. But now that his mother was crying so hard, why wasn’t his father here?

Chiyan felt his legs trembling. He took two more steps forward and saw Uncle Suo Long talking to his mother. After that, his mother fell on something and broke into uncontrollable sobs.

Chiyan felt a surge of anger, and he charged towards Suo Long like a cannonball, "Mom! What’s wrong! Did Uncle bully you? Don’t be afraid, I’ll call Dad to protect you!"

Hearing Chiyan’s voice, the people around looked at him with complicated expressions.

His mother also stopped crying, trying to tell him not to come over, but it was too late.

Getting around the crowd, Chiyan immediately saw his father lying on the ground. His eyes were tightly closed, and there was not a single good patch on his skin. It was covered with bloody wounds and exposed fresh flesh.

Chiyan froze on the spot.

He stood still, looking at his father.

Jin Se, unable to bear the sight, reached out for Chiyan’s hand, "Ayu, are you hungry? Auntie got some Roast Meat for you?"

Chiyan stayed as still as a wooden puppet, unmoved.

Chiyan’s mother looked at him with swollen, red eyes. She cleared her choked voice, "Ayu, why did you come out? Your injury is not healed yet. Go back and rest."

Chiyan slightly turned his eyes, speaking softly, "What happened to Dad?"

Chiyan’s mother’s eyes turned even redder, and her voice choked up again, "Nothing, Akira, be good, your father is just asleep..."

Jin Se also forced a smile, "Ayu, how about I take you and Ayu to eat some Roast Meat? Or do you want some fruits? Auntie will accompany you. Okay?"

Chiyan dodged the hand extended by Jin Se and emotionlessly squatted down beside his father.

Jin Se tried to stop him instinctively, but she was pulled back by Suo Long. He sighed, shaking his head helplessly.

"Dad?"

Chiyan’s voice was hoarse, and he gently pushed the Beastman’s arm on the ground.

"Dad? Can you wake up and play with me, please?"

"..."

"Dad, didn’t you promise to teach me how to hunt?"

"..."

"Dad, you can’t lie to me; otherwise, I won’t like you any more."

"..."

No matter how much Chiyan spoke, the Beastman on the ground didn’t respond at all.

Chiyan let his eyelashes drop, silently holding the cold hand of the Beastman in his arms.

The Tear Beads as big as beans fell, "Dad, let me warm your hands..."
