Chapter 698: Chapter 702: Something’s Strange

Su Tang looked at her empty hands in disbelief, then smacked herself in the forehead.

What a blockhead she was!

While watching period dramas on Lan Star, she’d seen countless protagonists being robbed of their money pouches. She used to ridicule them, calling them stupid.

But it turns out, she was the real idiot!

Thinking of how she had confidently brushed off any worries just moments ago, Su Tang felt like slapping herself.

"That man just stole my money pouch, go catch him now!" she cried.

Gaiyin quickly looked up in the direction the Beastman had gone, only to find him still standing there, provocatively grinning at them while swinging the money pouch in his hand.

Was this even tolerable?!

Without hesitation, the three of them rushed after the Beastman.

Not seeming the least bit worried, the Beastman waited until they had almost jostled their way out of the crowd before he leisurely turned and fled.

He seemed to know the terrain extremely well, weaving around the houses. Every time Gaiyin was about to catch him, he would change his course. This happened repeatedly, and Gaiyin began to sense something was off.

Gaiyin could tell that the Beastman was quite strong. If he genuinely wanted to escape, he would have done so long ago.

However, it felt as if the Beastman was intentionally leading them on, as if they were being manipulated somehow – something was definitely not right!

Upon realizing this, Gaiyin abruptly halted, catching hold of Xi’en who was still intending to charge forward.

Su Tang blinked in surprise, "Why did we stop chasing?"

Gaiyin furrowed his brows, "Something’s fishy!"

When the Beastman upfront noticed that they had stopped, he too came to a standstill. He turned around, swinging the money pouch with a challenging smirk on his face. "What? Don’t want the money pouch back?"

Gaiyin watched that Beastman for a while and was certain he had never seen him before.

Gaiyin gave a thin-lipped smile, "Since you like it so much, you can keep it."

Then he turned around with Su Tang and began to leave. Seeing this, Xi’en hurriedly followed them.

The Beastman seemed taken aback, apparently not expecting them to leave so decisively, which left him a bit flustered.

"Hey, hey, hey! Don’t leave! I’ll give your money back to you."

Ignoring him, Gaiyin quickened his pace.

The Beastman cursed under his breath, then he clenched his teeth and abruptly appeared in their path, blocking their way. "Stop! You can’t leave!"

Gaiyin’s features hardened as he shoved Su Tang towards the wall and instructed Xi’en, "Keep her safe!"

Without wasting any more words, he conjured two sharp blades and charged at the Beastman.

The Beastman was startled and dodged hastily. "Hey, what are you doing? Let’s talk this out, why are you getting physical?"

Gaiyin didn’t respond, his attack became even more relentless.

The Beastman was begging for mercy while trying to dodge, showing no intention of fighting back.

Probably due to the limited space, it wasn’t long before Gaiyin slashed a gory wound on the Beastman’s arm.

The Beastman shrieked and crouched in a corner, covering his wound and begging, "I was wrong, stop hitting me, you’re going to kill me!"

Unmoved, Gaiyin pressed his blade against the Beastman’s throat, demanding coldly, "Who sent you? What’s your purpose?"

His face pale, the Beastman gritted his teeth secretively, "How did you discover it? I think I was acting pretty well."

Gaiyin narrowed his eyes, pressing the blade a bit harder against his throat, causing a bead of blood to appear.
