Chapter 876: Chapter 881: The Fifth Trial 24

The thirteenth day.

They set out at six in the morning as usual and didn’t find the safe house until about six-thirty in the afternoon.

This time the safe house only allowed three people to enter.

At this point, there was less than half an hour until nightfall.

Outside the safe house—

Gaiyin seriously instructed Su Tang, "When we can enter, you go first. Xi and I will stay nearby and warm up with Godzilla."

Su Tang nodded gravely, "Okay, be safe."

Su Tang understood.

By tomorrow night, if all goes as expected, the safe house will only allow two people to enter, and inevitably one person will have to remain outside.

If they didn’t toughen up now, the following night would be incredibly difficult to endure.

It was still unclear how far they were from the endpoint, but Su Tang felt they were nearing it, or else the safe house wouldn’t impose such restrictions.

Su Tang left behind five Satiety Pills, and the remaining six were divided equally between Gaiyin and Xi.

Even though they each received an additional three, they actually only had twelve in total.

With their energy depleting substantially each day, they needed at least two Satiety Pills to replenish themselves, so the pills Su Tang gave them were a mere drop in the bucket, only enough for six days’ consumption.

Su Tang had also tried to consume food she exchanged for from the system’s store using Exchange Points, but oddly, not only did it not increase any feeling of fullness after ingestion in the maze, but eating too much even made one feel parched and thirsty.

Since entering the trial, Su Tang had encountered many strange occurrences, so she subconsciously treated this minor issue as part of the maze’s anti-cheating protection and thus discarded the thought of using exchanged food to delay time.

The light of day quickly dimmed.

To avoid being a burden, Su Tang chose to enter the safe house the moment it became available.

Gaiyin and Xi stayed outside.

"Try to avoid combat tonight, conserve energy, keep your distance from Godzilla, and hold out until dawn as much as possible."

Their goal was to exit the maze, to pass the trial, not to score points by killing Godzilla.

What’s more, they had already exchanged for Advanced Cultivation Techniques, so even if they could exchange for some other useful items, it would be just icing on the cake.

Their ultimate objective was the heritage rights to the Wood Immortal Mansion, for only by acquiring the heritage could they truly own the Wood Immortal Mansion and fundamentally solve the reproduction difficulties of both tribes.

They couldn’t afford to lose sight of the big picture over trivial gains ー to drop the watermelon while picking up sesame seeds.

As clever as Xi was,

he quickly grasped the meaning behind Gaiyin’s words and nodded in agreement, "Okay."

As the conversation ended,

several roaring sounds erupted from all directions, with at least four Godzillas advancing on Gaiyin and Xi from different directions in an encircling manner.

Though the faces of both were quite grim, they remained remarkably calm at that moment.

With a glance at each other, in a well-coordinated move, they both charged at the Godzilla closest to them and attacked it with no reservations.

In a matter of seconds, that Godzilla lay on the ground, dead.

In the second before collapsing, it spat out Spider Silk, aiming to drag Gaiyin and Xi down with it in a desperate last stand.

Gaiyin and Xi were always on guard; seeing Godzilla’s final strike, they rolled several times in quick succession to dodge.

After evading, their complexions were terrible; their all-out attack had drained nearly all of their strength.

This was not the start they had hoped for.

"Split up!"

Popping a Satiety Pill into their mouths, they broke through an opening in the encirclement and ran in two different directions.
