Chapter 894: Chapter 899: The Final Test 14

Chi Tree suddenly burst into hysterical laughter, his expression both crazed and fierce, "Hahahaha! It’s opened! I’ve opened the lock! The key in my hand is the real one; the Heritage to the Wood Immoral Mansion is mine now!"

Bai Que’s eyes almost popped with fury!

He rushed forward and yanked Chi Tree aside, only to see that the lock on the door had indeed been opened.

But the key in the lock wasn’t the one he had given Chi Tree; instead, it was one that closely resembled the key he held in his own hand.

Yet the two keys he owned were still in his grasp. So where did this key in Chi Tree’s possession come from?

Bai Que’s forehead veins bulged, his eye sockets rimmed with a slight redness. He grabbed Chi Tree by the collar and punched him hard on the cheek.

"How dare you hide a key!"

Chi Tree did not argue. He turned his head with a grin, his teeth now stained red with blood.

"So what if I hid the key? If I had not hidden this key, would I ever have been qualified to be the heir of the Wood Immortal Mansion?"

Bai Que clenched his teeth so hard they creaked, unable to suppress the anger boiling inside him, dealing Chi Tree several more punches in the face.

Chi Tree bore it all silently, even spitting out two bloodied teeth in the end.

"I used to respect you as the young master, but now I am the heir to the Wood Immortal Mansion. Even if you beat me to death, it won’t change this undeniable fact! Hahahaha! What of the young master? In the end, you’ll still have to beg before me!"

Chi Tree shook off Bai Que’s restraint with a look of arrogance, standing on the steps like a king awaiting his coronation.

The look in Bai Que’s eyes was venomously fierce as he glared at Chi Tree, yet he was utterly helpless.

One minute, two minutes passed—

The surroundings were eerily silent, and the steward of the Divine Mansion showed no sign of wanting to appear.

Based on the previous rounds, he would usually show up immediately after the test was concluded.

Yet now that the lock had been opened, he was nowhere to be seen.

Su Tang thought for a moment, stepped forward, and removed the key from the lock.

The lock reengaged automatically the second after the key was withdrawn.

Su Tang took out her key, inserted it, and gently turned.

"Click—" The lock was opened again. 𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙥𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎

She looked back with a hint of amusement towards Gaiyin, "This lock is truly nondiscriminatory; it opens for anyone."

A glimmer of hope erupted in Bai Que’s eyes, and he strode forward, pushing Su Tang aside and tremblingly inserted his key.

As expected!

A gentle click, and the door lock was unlocked once more.

Bai Que exulted, "I’ve opened it too! I’ve opened it too! I am also an heir to the Wood Immortal Mansion!"

But he had barely turned around when Gaiyin harshly kicked him, sending him flying.

He soared backward like a kite with its string cut, flying several meters before crashing heavily to the ground, coughing up a mouthful of fresh blood.

Gaiyin half-embraced Su Tang, his face as dark as if about to drip ink.

Xuan Shui immediately assumed an offensive posture in preparation for an attack, tension instantly enveloping the scene.

Bai Que got up from the ground, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, "Where’s the steward? Where’s the steward? I have found the correct key; I am the heir to the Wood Immortal Mansion!"

Meanwhile, Chi Tree stood aside, muttering incredulously, "How is this possible? How can their keys open the lock too? They’re all fake, all of them; only mine is real!"

"How dare you still speak!" Bai Que lunged toward Chi Tree, grappling with him, "You lowly slave, daring to hide a key!"
