Chapter 256: Chapter 246 Complaining of Grievances

After that, under Shen Yunfang’s guidance, Li Hongjun made another bottle of milk for Pangpang and finally coaxed the little ancestor back to sleep.

The two sloppy adults cuddled and lay down on the kang again. Although they couldn’t really do anything else at this time, they could still be sticky and mushy with each other.

In between, Shen Yunfang recounted everything that had happened after they were separated, guided by Li Hongjun’s prompting.

"You have no idea, those people actually locked me up in a tiny dark room all night, a room without a single window, and nothing inside, just a concrete floor, damp and cold. I was already showing my pregnancy then; in a place like that, an ordinary person, tired as they’d be, could only sit or lie down on the concrete. Could that be any good? Those *** are inhuman!" Shen Yunfang was still quite furious when she talked about this.

Li Hongjun’s large hand soothingly patted his wife’s back, eyes slightly squinting, hiding the sharpness in his eyes.

"Shen Yunxiu is no good either. I went to my uncle’s house to deliver new year’s goods, and she deliberately threw the child’s ball under my feet. I wasn’t paying attention and tripped. I was so scared at that moment; my belly hurt in waves and I even bled...

I woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee, and then I heard noises in the room. I was really frightened, but then I immediately thought about my son in my belly, and I couldn’t get scared, I had to protect my son..."

Chattering away, having found someone she could confide in, Shen Yunfang couldn’t help but vent the emotions she couldn’t share with others.

"I’m telling you, looking back now, our son really has an incredible fate." Shen Yunfang finally concluded with this.

Li Hongjun hugged the person in his arms tighter and kissed her forehead; he had just seen his wife kiss their son in the same way.

"This is the last time, I promise; from now on, I definitely won’t let you and our son be wronged again," Li Hongjun promised, then made a request, "After you finish your confinement period, come with me back to the military... Shut up, this time I have the final say."

After so many incidents, how could he rest easy leaving his wife and child here to fend for themselves? Without a man in the house to stand firm, they were just asking to be bullied, anyone could come and step on them.

Shen Yunfang closed her mouth. She wanted to say that she had long thought of going with the military, and had been preparing for it all the while, sorting things out at home and just waiting for him to come back to discuss the military accompaniment. But this man arrogantly wouldn’t even let her speak, hmph!

"Say something." Li Hongjun saw the woman in his arms close her eyes and play dead, and helplessly shook her to make her take a stand.

"What else can I say, haven’t you said it all? In our house, you’re the head, whatever you say goes," Shen Yunfang replied without opening her eyes, her tone however was not pleasant.

Li Hongjun, cornered by her ridicule and at a loss for actions or words, finally sighed and cajoled, "Look at you, spouting angry words. Haven’t we agreed already? In our house, you’re in charge; what you say counts. Why aren’t you managing now? Without your guidance, how can I, a mere soldier, carry on working in the future?" He was playing along, shamelessly speaking words he wouldn’t normally dare to say.

Shen Yunfang laughed with a ’pfft,’ opened her eyes that were full of mirth. "You go to the army, and you come back like you’re a different person, speaking such shameless words, don’t you feel embarrassed?" She pinched his cheek with two fingers and tugged outward.

Li Hongjun slightly turned his head, chasing her fingers and kissing them several times, "Embarrassed for what? Saying heartfelt words to my own wife, you’ll have to listen whether you love to or not, understand?" He could clearly see his wife loved hearing this; the joy on her face couldn’t be hidden.

Originally, because he was a man, he felt embarrassed to say those cheesy lines. After all, he didn’t have to; actions spoke louder than words, and he was confident his wife could feel his love anyway. But now, seeing how happy his wife was, he suddenly thought that expressing his feelings verbally while also showing through actions might be even better and win his wife’s heart more thoroughly.

Shen Yunfang hurriedly withdrew her finger and, with a slightly red face, changed the subject. When this man lost his shame, she seemed a little unable to cope.

So, they lay on the kang bed, chatting about this and that, recounting to each other the things that had happened since they had been apart.

Before she knew it, Shen Yunfang had fallen asleep in Li Hongjun’s arms.

Li Hongjun stared mesmerized at his wife’s flushed cheeks when Pangpang started fussing again from the edge of the kang. 𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑝𝘶𝘣.𝑐𝘰𝘮

Worried that the noise might wake his wife, Li Hongjun gently slid away, making sure she was lying comfortably, before getting up to tend to his son.

It was the first time father and son had met, and the situation was quite strange. Pangpang’s round eyes followed the unfamiliar man before him, from left to right, and then just staring straight at him. Unhappy about being stared at without distraction, Pangpang pursed his little mouth, ready to cry.

Seeing the signs, Li Hongjun knew trouble was coming. He hurriedly tried to emulate what his wife had done earlier, first patting his son, and then awkwardly and clumsily opening his diaper to check if he had wet himself.

On checking, it turned out not to be urine, but poop.

Looking at his son’s little face, Li Hongjun thought that the kid must have done it on purpose—what a ’warm welcome’ for his first meeting with his old man. It had to be intentional.

Li Hongjun glanced at his sleeping wife. She looked so peacefully asleep that he couldn’t bear to wake her and decided to handle the situation himself.

He straightened his face, treating the task with the seriousness of a major endeavor. First figuring out how the diaper was supposed to be folded, he then began to carefully change his son’s diaper. Of course, he wasn’t completely inexperienced—he had younger brothers and sisters, and when he was little, he had seen his grandmother take care of children. It was just that it had been a long time, and he couldn’t remember everything clearly. He believed, however, that with hands-on practice, none of this would be a problem.

After pulling out the diaper from under his son’s bottom and noticing there was still poop stuck to the little bum, he knew that just replacing it with a clean diaper right away wouldn’t be clean enough. And his son wouldn’t be comfortable with poop on his backside. So he took what he had at hand, folded the soiled diaper in such a way as to use a clean side to wipe his son’s bottom, and only after seeing it was clean, did he put a fresh diaper underneath his son.

Then, fumbling again, he wrapped his son in the new diaper in the same way he had unpacked the old one.

Looking at the poop-stained diaper in his hands, he said nothing and prepared to take it away to wash. He hadn’t been around before, but now that he was back, he would take care of these things himself so his wife wouldn’t have to.

But before he could step down from the kang, his son on the bed started fussing again.

Li Hongjun couldn’t understand what his son was saying, but he couldn’t just ignore him, so he carelessly tossed the poopy diaper onto the dining table and sat back down to see what was bothering his boy.

"Son, what’s the matter? Tell dad," he whispered, negotiating with his son.
