Chapter 492: 482

Once Xiaowang had found the translator, and after a lengthy exchange with Mr. Yoshida, Director Wu finally learned what today’s incident was all about.

He smacked his lips together and cursed inwardly, ’serves you right’. Knowing he was unwelcome on this land, he still had to show off and cause trouble. And after getting beaten, he ran back to make a fuss. What’s the point? Is it fun?

"Haha, tell him I deeply sympathize with Mr. Yoshida’s misfortune," said Director Wu, chuckling to the translator, instructing him to relay the message to Mr. Yoshida. "Assure him that we will conduct a thorough investigation and deal with this matter seriously, bringing the assailant to justice."

Mr. Yoshida was not satisfied with Director Wu’s assurances and did not accept the need for an investigation. He, the victim, was standing right there, and he did not want Director Wu to drag his feet any longer.

"No, there is no need for an investigation. My word is evidence," Mr. Yoshida said, very dissatisfied with Director Wu’s handling and began shouting in the office of the Investment Promotion Agency.

Director Wu narrowed his eyes; he was not someone with a good temper either.

Of course, in the end, Mr. Yoshida did go to the Agricultural University with several police officers to arrest people, but the university was certainly not going to let them just take someone away. Thus, after a dispute, Mr. Yoshida and the officers ended up sitting in President Wang’s office.

Mr. Yoshida was still arrogant, insisting on arresting everyone involved in hitting him. Vice President Tao nodded and bowed in agreement, suggesting they should expel these troublemakers, hoping to appease and please Mr. Yoshida.

President Wang was leisurely sipping his tea when the police officers asked about the case, and that’s when he spoke up.

"We can’t just listen to one side of the story about what exactly happened. Since this incident took place in our school, I am sure some students must have witnessed it. I think we should ask these students what actually happened," President Wang said casually. "I trust our students and believe that if such an incident occurred, there must be a reason."

The police officers nodded in agreement.

So Mr. Yoshida, despite having objections, could only sit in the office waiting for the officers to gather information.

After extensive investigation, most of the onlookers from the morning had been taken by the officers for individual questioning, with special attention paid to those involved in the fight.

However, their accounts were basically the same; they all accused Mr. Yoshida of trying to forcibly enter the Agricultural University campus to harass female students. The gatekeeper had acted to protect the students, which led to the conflict with the foreigner who did not speak the language. They admitted a mistake but argued it was understandable given the circumstances.

The gatekeeper himself acted as if he had done nothing wrong, as if the Japanese deserved to be beaten, leaving the police officers at a loss. The gatekeeper was over sixty years old; actually arresting him would likely be too much for him. Of course, the officers also had a strong sense of national pride; they were meant to uphold justice, but they frowned upon seeing Mr. Yoshida’s arrogance, naturally shifting their sympathies towards the gatekeeper.

Agricultural University students banded together in solidarity against the outside world, leaving Mr. Yoshida isolated and helpless.

After lashing out with thirteen moves in frustration, Mr. Yoshida calmed down and realized that the current situation was extremely unfavorable to him.

Although he was injured, there were some students from Agricultural University who also got injured, including that old man who complained about having a sore waist, head, and buttocks, as if he was more uncomfortable than the actual victim. In addition, these people had a unified narrative, all claiming that this was a misunderstanding caused by Mr. Yoshida forcefully entering Agricultural University’s campus in pursuit of a female student. True, he did want to enter the campus to chase after Shen Yunfang, but in this situation, he absolutely couldn’t admit it, as that would only confirm the accusations of him being a hooligan. Therefore, after much deliberation, Mr. Yoshida swallowed his pride again and, with his face still bruised, instantly reverted to the posture of a refined gentleman.

"Since everyone has made it clear that this is just a misunderstanding, I won’t pursue the matter further," he said through gritted teeth.

Principal Wang immediately took the opportunity to hand him a metaphorical "good person card" and sang his praises, "Hehehe, it’s admirable how magnanimous Mr. Yoshida is, truly admirable! However, as the principal of Agricultural University, I still have to apologize on behalf of my students and staff to Mr. Yoshida. No matter what, it’s not acceptable that our side resorted to violence. I will surely reprimand them later. And Mr. Yoshida, please don’t take this to heart, continue with your investments in our country as people here are still very passionate."

On hearing this, Mr. Yoshida’s facial twitch intensified as he thought sarcastically about how "passionate" they were, having beaten him to a pulp.

A few officers from the public security bureau saw that the parties had settled the matter themselves and considered it successfully resolved. They greeted Principal Wang and then left.

But Mr. Yoshida didn’t leave. He had finally managed to enter the Agricultural University campus again, and there was no way he was going to let this beating be for nothing. He’d just thought of an excellent idea—everyone says a woman’s heart is the softest. If he showed up in front of Shen Yunfang with his battered face and told her that he ended up like this all because of his desire to see her, he believed she would be very touched.

After nursing these thoughts for a good while, Mr. Yoshida then requested to meet student Shen once again with Principal Wang.

Principal Wang frowned and politely refused him. After all, the school was a sacred place for study, and Shen was supposed to focus on her studies. It was highly inappropriate to interrupt her classes so frequently. If Mr. Yoshida truly wished to meet Shen, he should try after class.

Mr. Yoshida understood that Principal Wang was just giving him a polite brush-off. However, as the saying goes, the host calls the shots, and he didn’t have much leverage here. So he just sat and made small talk with Principal Wang for a while, and not until the class bell rang did he hastily bid farewell with his translator in tow.

Upon leaving Principal Wang’s office, he didn’t hurry away but stood waiting by the stairway for a little while. Soon after, Vice Principal Tao emerged from Principal Wang’s office. The moment he saw Mr. Yoshida at the stairway, his eyes lit up.

"Mr. Yoshida, where are you heading? May I offer to show you the way?" Vice Principal Tao had wanted to speak up in the office but didn’t dare to with Principal Wang there. Unexpectedly, he ran into Mr. Yoshida right after coming out.

Mr. Yoshida managed a slight smile but spoke with an air of arrogance, "I would like to visit the location where Shen is attending class. If Vice Principal Tao is free, I hope you can lead the way." Mr. Yoshida was not afraid of getting lost with his translator, but he had developed an innate fear of Agricultural University’s students—who might confront him without reason—so it was better to have an official from Agricultural University accompany him. Vice Principal Tao was most suited for this role.

"Ah, I am free, entirely free this morning. Let’s go then, Mr. Yoshida," Vice Principal Tao said obsequiously, leading the way with his head bowed. "If you have any other requests, just tell me, and I’ll do my utmost to accommodate you," he added.
