Chapter 777: Chapter 767 Two Naughty Kids

Shen Yunfang brought the child back home and immediately told Pangpang to lie down and rest; the sight of her child’s face covered in blood that morning had given her quite a scare.

"Mom, I’m fine, I can’t sleep." Pangpang had barely lain in bed for a minute before he couldn’t take it anymore and bounced out, running to the kitchen to protest to his mother.

The child was not one to feign illness; aside from sleeping at night, asking him to lie in bed without any ailment was impossible.

Shen Yunfang was in the kitchen preparing a blood-nourishing soup for the child, seeing his unwilling expression, she also felt helpless.

"Who told you to sleep, mom asked you to lie in bed to rest, okay? Ah, fine, fine, if you really can’t stand lying down, then go and do whatever you should do, just don’t go out to play," Shen Yunfang waved her hand impatiently.

The child’s wound hadn’t been stitched, so it was important to take care in the coming days to avoid reopening the wound.

"Mmm, okay, then I’ll go watch TV." Pangpang was quite obedient; since mom said not to go out and play, he chose to stay at home. But as he left the kitchen, he couldn’t help but say, "Mom, I don’t like pig liver soup."

"Like it or not, you have to drink it. Who asked you to lose so much blood?" Shen Yunfang didn’t care what he said—the soup was already stewing in the pot, and it was too late for any objections.

When Manman came home from school at noon, she burst into the house and threw herself at her brother, insisting that Pangpang take off the gauze on his head to show her the wound. Pangpang, heedless of the consequences, pulled off the gauze without a second thought at his sister’s request.

When Shen Yunfang called the children to eat, what she saw was her son’s shiny bald head.

"Oh, you child, why did you take off the gauze? Have you forgotten what the doctor said this morning? You want to suffer at the hospital again, is that it?" That morning, when the doctor was disinfecting the wound, Pangpang had been in so much pain his tears nearly fell.

Manman sneakily glanced at the wound on her brother’s head, recalling how He Dada moved the cotton back and forth over it. The very thought sent shivers down her spine—it was a scene she dared not even imagine.

Pangpang, also afraid, rolled his eyes trying to see his own wound, "No worries, no worries, I’m all better now, not bleeding anymore, no need to go to the hospital. Manman, can you check for your brother, see if it’s really not bleeding?" As he spoke, he pushed his head close to Manman.

Manman seriously checked the wound before Shen Yunfang could intervene and poked her brother’s wound with her index finger, finally concluding, "Brother, don’t be scared, it’s not bleeding."

Pangpang winced with pain, but hearing his sister say that it wasn’t bleeding anymore made him happy. He turned to his mother and said, "Look, I’m not bleeding anymore, I’m fine."

Shen Yunfang didn’t know what to say, dumbfounded by her two children’s naive and ignorant actions. She also deeply felt that her previous approach to education had significant shortcomings. She always believed that as long as she took good care of the children’s basic needs and let them play to their heart’s content, giving them a beautiful childhood, that was enough. But now, it seemed not to be sufficient. Ah, she would wait for Li Hongjun to come back and let him figure out a solution.

Shen Yunfang took out an Essence of Life from her space, pulled Pangpang in front of her, and crushed it over his wound, spreading it over the area.

"You’re not bleeding now, but it doesn’t mean you’re healed. You know that losing too much blood can kill a person. Similarly, if your wound gets infected and bacteria seeps into your body, attacking your various tissues, it can be deadly. Now your wound is so big; if you’re not careful and give bacteria a chance, nobody can predict what will happen in the future, you understand?" Shen Yunfang deliberately began to scare the child, quite unscrupulously.

Both clueless kids nodded their heads.

"Good, as long as you understand. So, Pangpang, you must keep your wound covered with gauze all the time until the doctor says you can remove it, got it? That way, bacteria won’t find a way to invade your body," she instructed.

The two kids nodded again.

"Well, this time I’ll just wrap up your head first. If it gets exposed again, you’ll have to see a doctor to clean the wound before you can wrap it up," Shen Yunfang said as she adeptly bandaged the child’s head with another piece of gauze. Hmm, this looks much more comfortable.

Having scared the child, lunch then continued. She served both children a bowl of pork liver soup and watched as they both finished it, noses scrunched up, before considering the matter settled.

It wasn’t until after the meal that Pangpang started to question, "Mom, something’s not right. When I bumped my knee last time, I didn’t wrap it every day, and those bacteria you mentioned never came after me either." Pangpang was confused. Were wounds on the head different from wounds on the leg, more attractive to bacteria perhaps?

Shen Yunfang was momentarily stumped by the question; it was indeed a problem, but why, the doctor hadn’t explained that to her.

"That’s a professional issue. Your mom studied agriculture, not much about medicine. If you really want to know, then study hard. When you grow up and study medicine, you’ll understand. Alright, now off to bed, both of you. You still have to go to school this afternoon."

That afternoon, after sending the two children out of the house, Shen Yunfang received a call from the logistics department of the military district, informing her to come over because they wanted to understand more about the injury incident that had occurred that morning.

When Shen Yunfang arrived at the interrogation room, she saw two people outside: one was Li Xianghe, who had brought Shen Yingxue into the military district; the other was the kind-hearted military wife who had sheltered Shen Yingxue for the night.

The kind-hearted military wife looked embarrassed upon seeing Shen Yunfang, although she didn’t instruct Shen Yingxue to hurt anyone, if her husband hadn’t driven that woman out that morning, she might not have gone to find Shen Yunfang, and her child wouldn’t have been hurt.

Li Xianghe, upon seeing Shen Yunfang, was visibly angry, but she didn’t dare say much, only muttering something which Shen Yunfang overheard, she was cursing ’a harbinger of doom’.

Soon, they were called one by one for questioning, with Li Xianghe being the first to go in. The kind-hearted military wife wanted to find an opportunity to apologize to Shen Yunfang, but with other people in the room, they weren’t allowed to talk to each other.

While the two were exchanging glances, they heard Li Xianghe’s intermittent yelling from inside the room.

Shen Yunfang pricked up her ears and listened in, catching a few words: "I didn’t," "How should I know," "I don’t know her."

She was probably trying to disassociate herself from Shen Yingxue.

If Shen Yingxue had hurt someone outside, it would mainly be a matter for the police. But injuring a military dependent within the military district was a serious matter when pursued and could even be brought before a military court.

Li Xianghe came out, and next, the military wife went in.

Li Xianghe glared at Shen Yunfang, her eyes nearly shooting fire, "Don’t be so smug. You want to frame me, but I won’t let you have your way," she snapped.

Shen Yunfang turned her head away, refusing to deal with someone who was so ill-mannered.

The last one to go in for questioning was Shen Yunfang, in the same uncomfortable interrogation room. She sat in a chair near the door, opposite several star-adorned leaders.

Shen Yunfang openly recounted everything about her and Shen Yingxue, from start to finish, emphasizing that the first time Shen Yingxue had come to the military district, she had already clearly instructed the gatekeeper not to let this person in again. That such an incident would occur this time pained her deeply. She had thought the military compound ought to be the safest place and never imagined that a premeditated bloody incident would happen here.

As she left, she left a soft, vulnerable statement, "I am a military wife. I have always been proud to be a military wife because I know that as long as my husband, Li Hongjun, is a soldier of the people, then the country and the government will provide us military wives with the most favorable protection. I hope I can always believe that."
