Chapter 778: Chapter 768 The Old Lady Gets Out of Prison
After coming out of the house, Shen Yunfang stopped concerning herself with the matter.
Because she knew that although Pangpang’s injury seemed severe, if you looked closely, it was just a scrape with a bit of bleeding that was somewhat frightening. If she wanted to use this little injury to send Shen Yingxue to jail, it would probably be difficult. Even if she insisted, the most that could happen would be to detain Shen Yingxue for a few days of education and then compensate for some medical expenses, and that would be the end of it.
Between the child and Shen Yingxue, as a mother, she naturally preferred her child to be healthy and well. There would be plenty of opportunities to deal with Shen Yingxue later. There was no need to use her precious child’s safety in exchange.
In the following days, Shen Yunfang didn’t go anywhere. She stayed at home making nourishing soups for her child, intending to replenish the blood Pangpang had lost.
However, Pangpang completely failed to appreciate his mother’s efforts. He really didn’t like the weird-smelling soups and broths she was making recently, leading to a grand battle of wits that unfolded in the Li Family.
Meanwhile, at a small door at the entrance of a prison in the suburbs of the Capital, the door was pulled open from inside, and a woman with graying hair and a hunched back slowly walked out.
"Qiu Shuping, once you step out of this door, you’re free. I hope that when you go out, you can reform yourself, have a change of heart, and start a new life."
Qiu Shuping hastily turned around, bowed deeply towards the guards inside, and when the small door clanged shut in front of her, she then straightened up a little and turned around, facing the vast outside world, with the earlier eagerness in her eyes now replaced by a vicious gleam.
You all just wait for me, wait for me. You’ve locked me up in here for so long; this won’t end just like that. Now that I’m out, those who wronged me, I won’t let any of you off. I will make sure to make your lives miserable.
Qiu Shuping was seething with anger for a while, and when she came back to her senses, thinking about what to do next, her fierce eyes once again became blank.
Where is this? I was brought straight in by car when I came here, but now that I’m out, how is a woman who hardly ever left home supposed to find her way on her own?
Thinking of home, she quickly looked around in a panic. In front of the prison was a vast expanse with nothing but a main road; she soon realized that indeed no one had come to pick her up.
Qiu Shuping was furious, muttering curses under her breath, "You bunch of bastards, you’ve thrown me here and now you’re ignoring me, right? Alright then, wait until I get back, and see how I deal with you. You think you can abandon me, dream on. Even if I become a ghost in this life, I won’t let you have peace."
Cursing as she went, she walked forward. The weather in March had already turned warm, with flowers blooming. She was still wearing the cotton-padded clothes she had worn inside, and walking out into the sun, sweat started to pour down from the roots of her hair.
Stopping under a large tree, Qiu Shuping set down the bundle she was carrying on the ground, and searched herself with her wrinkled hands. She wanted to see if there was any money on her; she couldn’t make it to her second child’s place by walking, she needed fare for transportation.
As expected, the result was disappointing. She searched every pocket on her body and didn’t find a single cent. She squatted down, unwrapped her small bundle, and started searching. Besides a few changes of clothes, there was nothing useful in it.
Now Qiu Shuping was truly worried. An old woman who had barely ever left home, in this unfamiliar place, couldn’t even discern the directions, let alone having no money for transportation, how was she supposed to go home?
Thinking about her current plight, Qiu Shuping stood fuming under the big tree, hands on hips, as she began cussing again, this time even worse than before. Indeed, she was a character stained by the prison’s dye vat, her vocabulary not on the same level as before.
After venting for a while, Qiu Shuping, with a parched mouth and weary tongue, had no choice but to stop. She stood under the tree pondering for a moment, then carelessly gathered her bundle, slung it back on her shoulder, and turned towards the door she least wanted to approach.
"Hello, can you help me find Officer Huang? I’m just released number 18459, I have something I need to discuss with her," Qiu Shuping said to the person inside the door, forcing a pitiful smile onto her face.
By the time she exited the small door again, she had the one yuan for fare that she had just borrowed in her pocket, and she had also clarified how to get into the city and to her second son’s home.
Qiu Shuping, dusty and weary from travel, finally saw the familiar residential area after switching several public vehicles from the suburbs. She followed her memory, sneaking and dodging, until she reached the building where Shen Yunfang used to live, glanced at the protruding manhole cover at the stairs entrance that she had once worked on; yes, this was definitely the place.
She looked up at the building; since she had always waited downstairs in the past, she hadn’t visited the upper floors often, and after such a long time, she somewhat forgot which floor it was.
As she stood there clueless, she was spotted by Aunt Sun from across Shen Yunfang’s door.
"Hey, aren’t you, what’s her name? What’s her name again? Oh dear, it’s on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t say it." Aunt Sun had just finished her chores at home and came down to chat with someone, only to run into an old lady who looked familiar.
Qiu Shuping felt uneasy; she remembered this woman, seemingly a neighbor of her second son’s, and not a good sort.
As Aunt Sun was pondering, seeing Qiu Shuping keep glancing upstairs, she suddenly had a flash of recognition and exclaimed while grabbing her hand, "Ah, I remember now, I remember, you are Xiaoshen’s mother-in-law, the one who was arrested over two years ago." She then realized she was holding hands with a reformed criminal. Even if she was elderly, she was still a reformed criminal. She quickly withdrew her hand and took two exaggerated steps back, creating more than enough safety distance from Qiu Shuping before asking suspiciously, "Have you been released, or did you escape? What are you doing back here? Are you planning to do something bad again?"
The question was straightforward enough.
Qiu Shuping was so angry her nose nearly went crooked, "You’re spewing bullshit. You’re the one who escaped. You’re the one who’s the reformed criminal. Say that again? Say that again, and see if I don’t tear your mouth apart!" She immediately bristled with rage.
In prison, to avoid being bullied, she had learned some techniques and fought quite a few fights; now outside, seeing these neatly dressed people, she instinctively showed her ferocious side.
Aunt Sun was indeed scared by her and took another two large steps back, shouting, "Hey, what are you trying to do? Don’t come any closer; I am not afraid of you. If you come any closer, I’ll call the police."
Qiu Shuping took a few breaths to suppress the fury in her heart. She wasn’t afraid to fight, but she was afraid of being thrown back in jail, so she had to tamp down the rage, "What are you yelling for? I’m just here looking for my son. Aren’t you my son’s neighbor? Are they home right now?"
"What? You don’t know? Your son and his family moved away; I heard they went to Z Province."
