So he went around the house and entered the compound through a secret entrance in the fence at the back of the house. Next he found the door on the ground and opened it to reveal stairs that led to a darkness.
He went down the stairs and locked the door behind him. Then he followed the stairs down to its end.
The stairs led to the basement. At the other end of the basement was another door. He knocked on this door and waited.
He waited for about two minutes before the door opened up for him. Captain Sheckel told him that the door would only be opened for two seconds, so he stepped through it quickly.
The door closed up behind him while he walked ahead into the tunnel. He had to walk for a short while because the tunnel was far away from the first underground floor.
When he reached the other end of the tunnel, he had to knock and wait again. This time, he waited for less than five seconds before they opened for him to pass through.
When he came out from the other side of the door, he found a lamp bearer waiting there for him. The man was unknown to him, which surprised him.
He expected the lamp bearer to be Captain Sheckel because she was the only one he thought had the keys to the tunnel and could open them. Apparently, he was wrong about that.
Since this man could control access to the underground tunnels, he decided to get to know the man. Well, he was mostly interested in how the man got the key.
Unfortunately, there was nothing special about how he got the key. Captain Sheckel had simply given him temporary control of the keys. Apparently, she gives the keys to different lamp bearers at random.
After getting the information he wanted from the man, he took the nearest stairway down to the second underground floor. From there he went to the prison lockers.
On the way to the prison, he thought about how he couldn't enslave the workers of a godly organization. The clones complained about how unfortunate it was for a long time.
Actually, they can enslave workers of a divine organization. It is something that they can do, and there is nothing stopping them from at least trying.
If they try to enslave a fellow lamp bearer, for instance, they might fail, or they might succeed. If they succeed, they must not make the worker do anything that breaks the oath they swore when they joined the organization.
Even if they do all of these, there is nothing that will prevent the god of justice from noticing their actions and getting angry at them. This will surely happen if the lamp bearer is a devout believer of the god of justice and prays to the god for help.
The only way they can prevent danger to themselves is to avoid letting the slave know their identity. Even then, the power of a god is unpredictable. It is just too dangerous to mess with the workers of a god.
Many of the slavers that they know about that were hunted and killed got into trouble for enslaving the wrong people. Once their identity as slavers was revealed, they would be hunted by everyone that came across them.
They shook their head in pity and knocked on the door of the prison. Janus was there, so he opened the door for them.
The fat man was very happy to see him come early to relieve him. He was quick to pack up his things and leave. This left Legion alone in the prison.
He looked around at the roof-high lockers full of bodies and said, "At least, there is nothing preventing me from enslaving you bunch."
Neither he nor Janus has the keys to the lockers. Their job is to simply watch for anything out of place and report to the custodian or the captain if the custodian isn't available.
So theoretically, he shouldn't be able to open the lockers. But that is not the case with him. Thanks to Sever, the easiest problem for him to solve in order to orchestrate a prison break is to open the locks.
He didn't do anything related to his plans on his first day as a guard. He put those thoughts out of his head and focused on training instead.
His plan is to train Bondage to 20% proficiency. That will double the amount of marks of bondage that he can make.
For normal slavers, their maximum number of slaves at 20% proficiency will be four. But he will have 12. That is already close to the maximum of 16 that normal slavers can have at 100% proficiency.
After training Mark of Bondage to 20%, he plans to shift his focus to Sever. Those are the two that he plans to focus actively on.
He doesn't plan to focus on Mental Probe because it is already high at 56%. It will take a lot of effort to bring it to the next stage of proficiency at 100%.
He would rather spend that effort on his other divine abilities and make quick progress in them. He also doesn't need to actively train Mental Probe, as he uses it all the time.
Mental Probe is the second divine ability that he activates most frequently. The most frequent one being the Aegis Shield.
He also doesn't need to train Aegis Shield for now because he is already passively training it and because the best he can get from completely mastering the divine ability is to reduce the energy consumption of the skill.
The benefit of reducing the energy consumption of Aegis Shield won't show its use until he is attacked. But spiritual energy is not his priority since he has a lot of it.
Having made up his mind, they began practicing. The darkness of the prison, only the light of turir divine ability flickered occasionally. But the light of the divine ability wasn't enough to illuminate anything.
