Trying to create new marks is energy intensive, but the progress towards increasing their proficiency is also faster with it. Besides, they don't have to worry about the expenditure of spiritual energy when they have energy water.
When they run out of energy, all they need to do is open the keg and drink from it. They felt refreshed immediately after drinking the energy water. Their minds became clearer and more active.
Drinking energy water won't give them the total energy contained within it instantly. Energy water will only have an exponential effect on the regeneration of spiritual energy.
When godclads take energy water, they will recover spiritual energy at a rate that is normal spiritual recovery multiplied by the number of souls they have. Energy water will boost the recovery of energy waters until the energy contained within it is used up.
For normal godclads at rank 1 with one pathway and three souls. Their total spiritual energy capacity will be 10, and they will be able to recover 1 unit of spiritual energy per hour normally.
Energy water will multiply the normal recovery of spiritual energy by 3 souls, which will increase it to 3 units per hour. That is an extra 2 units per hour, so 1 liter of energy water containing 100 units of spiritual energy will last a normal godclad at rank 1 with one pathway and three souls 50 hours of boost to their recovery.
The one liter will last 50 hours because it is being digested at a rate of 2 units per hour.
A rank 1 godclad with four pathways and 12 souls will have a normal recovery speed of 4 units of spiritual energy per hour. So energy water will increase spiritual energy to 4 × 12, which is 48 units per hour.
In that case there is an extra recovery of 44 units of spiritual energy per hour. So 1 liter of energy water will be completely digested in two hours and sixteen minutes.
For them, they have a normal recovery speed of 12 per hour. That's abnormal for a rank 1 godclad, even if they have four paths and twelve souls. But they can achieve that because they are already recovering spiritual energy with each of their souls.
Energy water can't change much about them except to bring them to the maximum potential of what a rank 1 godclad is capable of with energy water. That maximum is what a rank 1 godclad with four pathways and twelve souls can achieve.
So they too can digest energy water at a rate of 44 units per hour. So if given all the energy water they can drink, they can digest 10.56 liters of it in 24 hours. This is why they brought 5 liters of energy water with them for their 12-hour shift.
They brought just exactly what they could use and brought enough so that if someone sees them carrying energy water about, they won't draw too much attention with just 5 liters of it.
This second reason is why the suggestion by some clones to carry more energy water than they need in case they take too long before they can come home was rejected. It was a good suggestion that took into consideration unexpected delays. But they prioritized caution over preparing for delays.
This is just them being naturally cautious, but it really came in handy because someone did come over to see them and saw them with the keg of energy water.
The person that came was a godclad that Legion had never seen. He introduced himself immediately he entered the prison and saw Legion.
"Good day to you, Lamp Bearer Levi. I am Lamp Bearer Shawn. My full name is Shawn Ivory."
The man spoke with confidence and a smile on his face. He appeared to have come for a pleasant reason.
Legion would have refused to befriend him normally, as they look down on humans. But when they heard his surname, they all made up their minds to cut ties with him and have absolutely nothing to do with him.
Legion stood up and said, "Nice to meet you."
They had made up their minds to reject him for whatever he came for, but that didn't mean they wanted to offend him openly and make him their enemy as soon as they met him. After all, the Ivory family is very powerful in this town.
The man smiled but didn't extend his hands in greeting. Legion didn't mind because they weren't going to shake his hands even if he did.
Shawn said, "I've heard of the latest addition to our workforce. Many people are talking about the young man who was rich enough to prepare his existence on his own, and from the looks of it, he is rich enough to purchase energy water too."
He was looking at the keg when he said his last statement. He was showing off his observation ability, but Legion wasn't in the mood to flatter him.
Legion just nodded and said, "I have to buy my own supply of energy water because what the division gives me is too small. I can't live on one liter per week."
The man nodded in agreement enthusiastically. "Well said. Many people have the same thought. But not many people have the money to make do in their wish and buy energy water to sustain themselves. In that regard, you are exceptional."
Legion smiled and said, "I'm sure you are more outstanding than me. You probably don't have to worry about your need for energy water. You probably have a bathtub of it that you soak yourself in every day."
Shawn laughed. "You're funny."
Then he shook his head and said, "I wish you were right. Unfortunately, I too have a problem with the lack of energy water."
