Chapter 146: 146, Exceptional Tacit Understanding (3)_1

Without hesitation, Jian Luo rushed over, ready to share the danger with Mo Xiao.

“What are you doing here?” Mo Xiao glared at Jian Luo as he came charging over, his voice harsh, “Get out of here. This has nothing to do with you.”

“Tsk, tsk, I’m not really helping you. If you die, they won’t let me go either.” Jian Luo was dodging bullets and firing his own, his voice sounding casual.

It would be such a shame if someone he actually liked ended up dead.

Mo Xiao glanced at him, noticing his smooth handling of the gun. It wasn’t like this was his first time handling a gun.

He knew that the kid had been tricking him before.

Jian Luo, however, didn’t have the luxury of worrying about the fact that he was exposed as being proficient with guns. He tossed aside the gun that had run out of bullets, and cast himself towards the man in black. With long fingers anchored around the man’s wrist, he twisted forcefully.

“Ah –”

The man in black released a miserable scream, his hold on the gun loosened, and it fell to the ground.

Perfect opportunity!

Jian Luo’s eyes narrowed, his fist smashed into the man’s face, hooked a finger, and scooped up the dropped gun. The next second, the black muzzle was pointed at the man in black.

“So long, and no goodbyes!”

He had a smirk on his face, his voice was soft.

Before his words even finished, a gunshot echoed and the birds in the forest fluttered around in chaos.

Mo Xiao kept an eye on Jian Luo, seeing the carefree smile on his face, yet his moves were firm and ruthless. A look of admiration appeared in Mo Xiao’s eyes.

Despite meeting for the first time, Jian Luo and Mo Xiao worked together seamlessly. With just one glance, one gesture, they knew each other’s intentions. The situation quickly turned in their favor.

“Bang, bang, bang–”

With the last gunshot disappearing, the final man in black was dealt with. They probably never expected to die by their own guns.

“Phew–” Watching the last man in black fall, Jian Luo dropped the gun, collapsed on the ground, his forehead sweaty and his breathing uneven.

After this battle, he was nearly drained.

As a child of the Jian Family, from an early age, he could tell these men in black were professional assassins.

If it weren’t for Mo Xiao, he doubted he would have made it out alive today.

“Master, are you alright?” The driver, looking pale, came over. His first concern was for Mo Xiao.

Of the three, the driver had the worst skills. His shoulder and thigh were both shot, blood gushing out, staining the ground with every step he took.

Mo Xiao shook his head, “It’s alright, patch up your wounds first.”

“Yes, sir.” The driver dutifully responded, went to a corner, and ripped off the clothing of one of the men in black, using the material to bind his wound and stop the bleeding.

“How are you?” Mo Xiao looked at Jian Luo’s injured arm, which was turning his white shirt sleeve red.

“Just a scratch.” Jian Luo felt dizzy, shook his head, and said casually.

“I have to go. I have some matters to attend to.”

If he didn’t leave now, surely Black Jack and Bai Jue would figure out what was going on.

Watching him go, Mo Xiao was feeling a peculiar sense of reluctance. He frowned but didn’t stop him.

“Thud–”

After only a few steps, Jian Luo, his step unsteady, blacked out and lost consciousness.

Seeing him fall to the ground, Mo Xiao showed a moment of panic and rushed over.

“Wake up!”

Hoisting up Jian Luo, Mo Xiao checked for his breath and was relieved to find he had only fainted.

“Master, our people are here.” The driver, having bandaged his wounds and holding a mobile phone, was slightly surprised to see Jian Luo unconscious.

“Let’s go.”

Mo Xiao hoisted Jian Luo onto his back, startling the driver.

“Uh, master, should I carry him?”

“No need.”

Mo Xiao said indifferently, carrying Jian Luo along the trail they had run in from.

The driver followed along, scratching his head in confusion. Was it just him, or was the master acting weird today?

Inside the Fortress

“Still no answer.” Bai Jue ended the call, looking at his friend on the verge of erupting, and swallowed nervously.

“Maybe Jian Luo just went out to eat and will be back soon.”

“It’s been over two hours. Even a feast would be finished by now.” Black Jack glanced at him, his voice cold.

Bai Jue, “…”

Bro, don’t glare at me like that. I yield.

“Can’t wait any longer. I’m sending people to look for him.” Black Jack could no longer sit still and jumped up.

Bai Jue rubbed his temples, “I’ll come with you.”

If something had happened to Jian Luo, they wouldn’t be able to explain it to Jian Qing.

Just as they got to the door, Black Jack’s phone rang.

“Wait, it’s Luo.”

Without any delay, Black Jack picked it up, only to realize the voice at the other end of the line wasn’t familiar.

“Which hospital?”

Black Jack’s handsome face darkened, his hand clutching the phone turning vein-y.

Upon hearing this, a bad premonition rose within Bai Jue.

“Got it, I’ll head over immediately.”

“What happened? Did something happen to Jian Luo?” As soon as Black Jack ended the call, Bai Jue immediately asked.

“Not sure about the details, we’ll go to the hospital first.”

Luo Xiaobai, you’d better be alright, or I’ll have to teach you a lesson.

Hospital

When Jian Luo awoke, the first thing he saw was the white ceiling, and a strong scent of disinfectant filled the air.

“You’re awake?” The nurse asked sweetly, “Do you feel uncomfortable?”

Jian Luo glanced at her and shook his head, “Who brought me here?”

He remembered still being in the forest before he fainted. Could it have been Mo Xiao who brought him to the hospital?

“Two gentlemen brought you in.” The sight of Jian Luo’s handsome profile left the nurse slightly blushing.

“Where are they?” It really was them.

“They’ve already left.” The nurse explained, “Oh, by the way, one of them left you a note.”

Jian Luo extended his free hand, took the note, and said, “Thank you.”

“No need. Just rest. Be sure not to touch your wound, or it might become infected.” After saying this, the nurse then left the ward.

Jian Luo unfolded the note. On it was just a short series of phone numbers. A slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

He seemed to be quite responsible.

Folding the note and putting it in his pocket, Jian Luo glanced at the clock on the wall. He suddenly remembered Black Jack and Bai Jue waiting for him back at the Fortress.

He inwardly cursed, realizing he was in big trouble.

Painstakingly sitting up, Jian Luo felt weak. Resting against the bed, he picked up his phone and was about to call the two of them when the door to the ward slammed open.

Jian Luo was startled, his phone slipped from his hand and onto the bed.

Seeing the two figures at the door, Jian Luo felt a sudden desire to find a hole to crawl into.

He had been caught red-handed.

“Uh… how come you two are here?”
