Chapter 279: 279, Genetics (4) _1
After a while, Quan Jingwu gently coughs and picks her up.
“Xiaojing!”
Caught off guard by the sudden lift, Jian Qing instinctively wraps her arms around his neck.
He carries her to the bed and lays her down.
“Wait here for me.”
Jian Qing watches him make his way to the bathroom, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes.
Shortly after, the man comes out carrying a basin of water.
“Xiaojing, what are you doing?”
Leaning against the bed, a wave of abdominal pain washes over Jian Qing, adding an extra layer of weariness to her brow.
Quan Jingwu doesn’t utter a word. He pulls over a stool, places the basin of water on it, and subsequently takes her foot.
It is at this moment that Jian Qing understands his intentions, a warm current slowly flowing in her heart.
“Is it hot?” He gently lowers her feet into the basin, bending over to softly massage them for her.
The suitably warm water comforts her feet, slightly alleviating the abdominal pain.
Jian Qing shakes her head, her eyes brimming with warm laughter, “Xiaojing, what would I do without you by my side?”
This man has spoiled her rotten and made her accustomed to his presence. She dare not imagine what life would be like for her if he were no longer there.
“Don’t worry, you won’t ever be able to get rid of me.” He dips his allure lips with a gentle hook.
Jian Qing laughs, gentleness in her eyes turns more akin to a gentle river.
After soaking for over ten minutes, Quan Jingwu grabs a towel to wrap her feet and softly wipes away the water droplets.
“Alright, take a nap for now. I’ll come and keep you company later.” He lifts the blanket, tucks her in, and then gets up to carry the basin away.
Afterward, he exits the bathroom, leaving the room and heading downstairs.
It’s still early and having slept for so long, Jian Qing isn’t sleepy. She picks up a magazine from the table and starts reading.
Downstairs, Quan Jingwu doesn’t go out, instead heading to the kitchen.
Quan Mingxuan is holding his car keys, obviously having just returned from outside.
Passing by the kitchen, he notices the light on and veers over to check.
Who could be in the kitchen at such a late hour?
Could it be Yifei looking for a late-night snack?
When he arrives at the kitchen door and sees the person busily at work, Quan Mingxuan is taken aback.
What’s happening?
The least likely person to be here is in the kitchen at this hour?
“Jingwu, what are you doing so late at night?”
As Quan Mingxuan nears the kitchen, an overpowering smell of ginger hits his nose.
Brown sugar, ginger?
While Quan Jingwu might be slow when it comes to women, Quan Mingxuan immediately gets it.
“Tsk tsk, the CEO of JK International is cooking brown sugar ginger water late at night? Isn’t that too virtuous of him?”
He chuckles sarcastically, jokingly mocking his brother.
Quan Jingwu finishes slicing the ginger, brandishing the sharp knife in his hand.
“Hey, hey, we can talk it out peacefully.”
Quan Mingxuan corners his eyes on the gleaming kitchen knife and quickly steps back.
It’s a civilized society, using a blade for threat is unacceptable.
Quan Jingwu glances at him, puts down the knife and throws the ginger slices into the boiling water.
Seeing this, Quan Mingxuan irritably steps forward again.
“Jingwu, let me ask you something. The honeymoon’s over, don’t you plan to propose?”
Observing their intimate behavior when they came home late at night, he, with his eagle eyes, can absolutely guarantee, the good thing has happened, right?
Just look at his face buffeted by the spring breeze when he got home.
“Mind your own business!” He shot him a cold glance and replies indifferently.
Quan Mingxuan is petrified, “…”
Is there no justice at all?
Damn, what’s wrong with him being a big brother and showing some concern?
Does he have to be so fierce?
He also has pride, hmph!
“Cook your brown sugar ginger water!” He grunts, turns around, and leaves nonchalantly.
If you’re not going to say anything, then don’t. He’s going to bed.
…
Quan Jingwu carries the cooked brown sugar ginger water upstairs and coincidentally bumps into Rhee in the hallway.
Seeing the concoction her son is carrying, Rhee, as a woman, immediately understands.
“Jingwu, after drinking this, give Little Qingqing a belly rub.” She advises.
Quan Jingwu, unusually serious, nods.
“Wait.” Rhee coughs softly to subtly remind him, “Don’t mess around too much, it’s bad for Little Qingqing’s health if she catches a cold.”
Even the usually composed Quan Jingwu can’t help but twitch at the corner of his mouth after hearing his mother’s innuendo, “Mom, you’re overthinking.”
Having said that, he takes the bowl back to his room.
“This naughty boy!” Rhee murmurs as she watches his retreating figure.
“What are you doing here?” After his wife hadn’t returned for quite a while, Quan Hao couldn’t help but go out looking for her.
“Nothing, just chatting with Jingwu for a bit.” Rhee shakes her head, turns to look at him, and asks, “What are you doing out here?”
“Looking for you.” Quan Hao replies.
Rhee corners her mouth into a smile, “Looking for me, why? I’ve just been out for a while.”
“Time to sleep.” He wraps an arm around her shoulder and leads her back inside.
“Can’t you fall asleep by yourself?” Rhee mockingly complains.
“Exercise before bed is good for body and mind.” Quan Hao lowers his voice, whispering in her ear.
What can she say, Jing’s playful genes were definitely inherited.
“You old lecher!” Rhee blushes, walking quickly towards their room.
If anyone heard him, she’d die of embarrassment!
“Hey, wifey, there’s no need to rush.” Quan Hao follows her at a leisurely pace, continuously teasing his wife.
“Quan Hao, you can sleep in the study tonight.” Rhee’s gritted teeth can be heard as she pretends to close the door.
“Don’t, wife, the long, lonely night stretches ahead and I refuse to let you go.”
Quan Hao slips into the bedroom just before the door closes, snuggles into her, and naturally proceeds to “exercise.”
