Chapter 457: 443, Powerful Dad (1) _1

“Young Master!”

The bodyguard at the door respectfully called out as he saw Jian Luo.

“Bring the luggage out from the plane.”

Jian Luo nodded slightly, looking towards the person beside him.

“Dad, let’s go in.”

“Hmm.”

Behind them, Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing followed at a leisurely pace.

The group entered the living room to meet Uncle Qin, who had just come down from upstairs.

Seeing Jian Qing and Jian Luo return, his face showed a surprised and delighted expression.

“Miss, Young Master!”

“Uncle Qin, where’s grandpa?” asked Jian Luo.

“The old master is in the study room. Young master, you should have sent word before returning. If the old master had known, he would have been overjoyed,” said Uncle Qin.

“We wanted to surprise grandpa,” said Jian Luo, “I will go upstairs to find grandpa.”

With that, he ran upstairs.

It was then that Uncle Qin noticed the man standing beside Jian Qing and his face turned serious.

Could this be the man Miss Wei liked?

The aura exuding from this man and his resemblance to Young Master Luo were uncanny.

“Uncle Qin, this is my dad.” Jian Qing introduced, holding onto Mo Xiao’s arm.

Facing Jian Qing, Uncle Qin showed a warm smile, then turned and politely greeted Mo Xiao, “Mr. Mo, nice to meet you.”

Mo Xiao nodded in response.

“Little Qingqing!” The robust voice of the old master echoed from upstairs.

Jian Qing looked up at the old master and walked over to him.

“Grandpa!”

She gently called out, holding onto the old master’s arm.

“Not even a word when you come back. I could have gone out to meet you.” The old master looked at her affectionately, reaching out to touch her head.

“It was meant to be a surprise, grandpa.” Jian Qing replied coyly with a smile.

Not far off, Mo Xiao looked at the elderly figure in Tang clothes standing between Jian Qing and Jian Luo. The stately attire added an air of scholarly elegance to the old man. Who would ever think that this gentle old man once dominated a part of the M Country?

Just then, the old man turned his gaze towards Mo Xiao. Unfazed, Mo Xiao met his gaze and walked up to him.

The old man scrutinized Mo Xiao closely, a glint flashing through his eyes.

“Dad, I am Mo Xiao!”

His sudden words left everyone in shock.

Jian Qing and Jian Luo lowered their heads, stifling their laughter.

They both thought Mo Xiao’s unexpected introduction was impressive and admirable.

The old master’s gaze grew serious and cold.

“Who recognizes you as their son, don’t run around finding random relatives.”

“You’re Weiwei’s dad, making you my father-in-law.” Mo Xiao said with seriousness, looking at the old master sincerely.

Given that Jian Qing often spoke of Mo Xiao over the phone these past few days, the old master had essentially accepted him.

However, he wasn’t about to accept the title of ‘father-in-law’ so readily. He needed to observe Mo Xiao closely first.

The old master shifted his gaze to Jian Qing and asked, “Qingqing, are you hungry? I’ll have the kitchen prepare something to eat.”

“I am,” Jian Qing replied, trying to conceal her smile.

“I’ll get someone to prepare a meal immediately,” Uncle Qin timely replied.

“Grandpa, where will my dad be staying?” Jian Qing asked, glancing at Mo Xiao before deliberately bringing up the matter with the old master.

The old master cast an unimpressed look at Mo Xiao and indifferently said, “The room on the left on the second floor.”

Hearing this, Jian Qing and Jian Luo both chuckled.

They knew that their grandpa was kind-hearted despite his harsh words.

The second floor was their mother’s bedroom. Although their mother had passed away, her room was still well-kept and cleaned every day. By letting Mo Xiao stay in that room, wasn’t their grandpa indirectly acknowledging Mo Xiao’s status?

Their grandpa was indeed, adorably obstinate.

“Grandpa, I knew you were the best,” Jian Qing said sweetly, wagging the old master’s arm.

“If I’m the best, then why don’t I see you hanging around here often,” the old master jokingly reprimanded her.

“I’ll stay longer this time,” Jian Qing promised.

The old master chuckled happily, “I’ll take your word for it. You better not go back on your promise.”

The grandpa and granddaughter duo walked over to the sofa and took a seat. Jian Luo pulled at Mo Xiao’s hand and whispered something into his ear.

Mo Xiao’s eyes gleamed with joy and he let out a sigh of relief.

After the meal, Jian Luo led Mo Xiao to Jian Wei’s room.

Mo Xiao stood at the room’s entrance, not stepping in for a long time.

“Dad, what are you staring at? Come in.” Jian Luo, who had just dragged in Mo Xiao’s suitcase, asked with a smile.

Mo Xiao tightened his grip on the handle of the door before stepping in.

The room’s warm-toned decor was immaculate, clearly well-kept and cleaned regularly. The bed sheets were spotlessly clean.

Moving his eyes around the room, Mo Xiao noticed photographs of Jian Wei on the dressing table and the bedside table.

He walked towards a desk nearby. The book on the desk seemed to be left halfway through reading, its pages still open.

According to grandpa, this book was left unfinished by mom. No one has been allowed to touch it since, so it has always been left as it was,” Jian Luo explained.

“Everything in this room is kept as it was. Grandpa says it feels like mom is still around this way.”

Mo Xiao’s hand brushed past the things on the desk, his eyes soft with affection.

“Dad!”

Jian Qing walked in, seeing the two men standing by the desk, and gave a smile.

“Dad, there’s something I forgot to give you.”

Hearing this, Mo Xiao lifted his head to look at her, “Hmm?”

“Do you have mom’s watch with you?” She gave a mysterious smile.

“I do.” Mo Xiao took it out from his coat pocket and handed it to her.

Jian Qing took the watch, then pulled out a small cropped photo from her pocket and placed it inside the watch, “There.”

She gave the watch back to Mo Xiao who, upon looking at its contents, paused for a moment.

The once empty watch now held a picture. In the image, a woman stood in a rose garden with a defiant smile on her face under the sunlight. She was so beautiful it was hard to look away.

He closed the watch and held it tightly in his hand.

“There’s one more gift,” she said.

This time, not only Mo Xiao but also Jian Luo was curious.

Jian Qing took two small red books out of her pocket and held them out to Mo Xiao.

The words “Marriage Certificate” on the red books were particularly eye-catching.

“What’s this?”

The eyes of Mo Xiao widened in surprise, he stood frozen in his spot.
