Chapter 191: Chapter 191 Meeko
Damon took a deep breath, trying to calm his frustration. "I just want to keep you safe," he said softly. "I can’t bear the thought of you getting hurt."
Kyra glanced back at him, her expression softening slightly. "I know, but I’m not helpless, Damon. We need to work together."
Damon sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Alright, but stay close to me. If anything happens, we get out immediately."
Kyra nodded, understanding the seriousness of the situation. "Okay, let’s go."
Before they left, Kyra gently covered the sleeping child with blankets. She softly whispered in his ear, "We’ll be back soon. Don’t get scared."
They stepped out of the space capsule, and Damon moved the rock from the entrance. After they both walked out, Damon carefully covered the cave with the rock again.
He reached for Kyra’s hand, and together, they cautiously began searching for food.
The snow crunched beneath their feet, the cold air sharp against their skin.
Damon kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings, his senses alert for any signs of danger. Kyra scanned the area, looking for anything edible.
As they walked, Damon’s grip on her hand tightened. "Stay close," he reminded her.
Kyra nodded, her eyes darting around for any signs of food. "Look over there," she pointed to a cluster of bushes in the distance.
They approached the bushes, and Damon examined them carefully. "These berries are safe," he said, picking a few and handing them to Kyra. 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚
They continued to gather berries and some edible roots they found nearby.
The air was filled with a tense silence, both of them acutely aware of the potential dangers around them.
After gathering enough food, they made their way back to the cave.
Damon removed the rock, and they slipped inside, sealing the entrance behind them.
Inside the space capsule, the warmth enveloped them, a stark contrast to the cold outside.
Damon set to work preparing the food while Kyra checked on the sleeping boy. He was still asleep, his little face peaceful.
"Hey, little guy, wake up," Kyra shook him softly. The boy, only two years old, was exhausted from all the activity and sudden chaos. Feeling safe with them, he had fallen into a deep sleep.
The little child rubbed his eyes with his chubby hands and opened them. A smile appeared on his face, his peetey yellowish eyes sparkling, and a dimple appearing on one side, making him look even cuter.
"Thank you, beautiful lady, fol saving me. I don’t know how to repway yoou," he said in his childish voice.
"What’s your name, little guy?" Kyra asked, pulling his cheeks lightly. "I like you, little guy."
He blushed so hard that his cheeks turned pink. "My name is Meeko," he replied shyly.
Kyra smiled warmly. "Meeko, that’s a lovely name. Are you hungry?"
Meeko nodded, his big eyes wide with curiosity. Kyra gently lifted him into her arms. "Come on, let’s get you something to eat," she said softly.
She carried him out of the bedroom and into the dining area, where Damon had already prepared some food.
When Damon saw them both, his eyes softened as he imagined his and Kyra’s future child. They should be cute like Kyra, right?
And it would be even better if it’s a daughter, just like Kyra.
"Hey there, buddy. I’ve got some food ready for you," Damon said.
Kyra set Meeko down on a chair at the dining table. Damon placed a plate of food in front of him. "Here you go, buddy. Eat up."
Meeko’s eyes lit up at the sight of the food. He eagerly began to eat, his small hands picking up the food with enthusiasm. Kyra sat beside him, watching with a gentle smile.
Damon sat across from them, his gaze shifting between Kyra and Meeko.
After they finished eating, Damon finally looked at the little boy. "What’s your name, little buddy?" he asked.
"Meeko," the boy replied, still licking his fingers.
"And what’s your dad’s name?" Damon continued, his voice gentle.
"Alessandro," Meeko said, looking up at him with wide eyes.
Damon’s brows furrowed. "Red Eagle... Are you from the Eldoria continent?" he asked, suspicion lacing his tone. The appearance of such flying beasts, along with the infected ones, made the whole situation even more unsettling.
Meeko nodded. "Yes, my daddy is the chief of the Red Eagle tribe in Cloud City."
Damon exchanged a look with Kyra, who was equally puzzled. "Something’s definitely wrong," Damon muttered. "How did these infected flying beasts get here?"
Kyra sighed, running a hand through her hair. The whole situation was bugging her to find out more.
"We will help you find your dad and your mom," Kyra said, gently rubbing his head. Meeko looked up at her with wide, trusting eyes.
Hearing the word "mom," Meeko’s face suddenly turned scared. "No, no! Mom only Daddy," he said, shaking his head vigorously.
Kyra frowned and exchanged a worried glance with Damon. "Why don’t you want to see your mom, Meeko?" she asked softly.
Meeko refused to say anything more and started crying, his small body trembling with fear. Kyra immediately took him into her arms, holding him close and soothing him with gentle words.
"Shh, it’s okay, Meeko. You don’t have to say anything. We’re here for you," she whispered, rubbing his back.
Meeko hiccuped, tears streaming down his face. "I want Daddy... I want Daddy..." he sobbed.
Kyra patted his back gently. "Shh... Little Meeko, if your dad sees you like this, he will be unhappy. Shh, don’t cry," she muttered, trying to soothe him.
She took him in her arms and headed to her room, putting him in bed. Grabbing a towel, she wetted it in the washroom before returning to the bed. Meeko’s face was red from crying, and she wiped his cheeks slowly with the cool towel.
The burning sensation on his cheeks eased a lot, and he looked up at her with his big eyes, still glistening with tears. Strangely, he found comfort in her presence.
"Feeling better, little meeko?" Kyra asked softly, her voice full of warmth.
Meeko nodded, his eyes wide and sparkling as he gazed at her.
