Chapter 335: Chapter 335 I want a little rainbow
At that moment, Kyra noticed Damon had also sat up, his legs folded under him as he eyed the mangoes with mild interest. His expression was unreadable, but the slight tilt of his head showed he was at least a little curious.
Kyra sighed, glancing between the two of them before reluctantly accepting one of the green mangoes from Oceanus.
"Let me cut it for you," he offered, taking the mango into his hands. With his sharp nails, he made neat slices, the fruit glistening in the morning light. "It might be a little sticky; let me wash it." He quickly rinsed the slices in the nearby river, then returned, ready to serve.
He wasted no time sprinkling the chili-salt mixture over it, offering it to her with a teasing grin. "Trust me, you’ll love it," Oceanus said, his confidence making her smile.
With hesitation, Kyra took a small bite, and immediately the intense tanginess hit her. Her face twisted at first, but then the combination of chili and salt kicked in. To her surprise, it wasn’t bad. In fact, the odd mix of flavors started to grow on her, and she found herself enjoying it more than she expected.
Damon watched her closely, his expression still neutral, but there was a flicker of interest in his eyes. He slowly reached for a slice, not wanting to appear too eager but clearly curious. Oceanus was already offering him the chili-salt mixture, smirking as if daring him to try.
Damon took a cautious bite, his face remaining serious as he chewed thoughtfully. After a moment, he gave a subtle nod. "Not bad," he muttered, though it was clear he wouldn’t give Oceanus the satisfaction of a full compliment.
"What’s you all eating?" Lucas’s voice suddenly broke through as he woke up, shifting into his human form. He rubbed his eyes, yawning, and crawled toward them on his knees. When he saw the mangoes, his mouth watered.
"Is that mango?" he asked, a hint of longing in his tone. The sight of the fruit reminded him of the mango trees near his house, and he couldn’t help but feel nostalgic.
Vincent also woke up, drawn by the commotion. He walked toward them, his expression a mix of curiosity and mild annoyance at being disturbed from his sleep.
"What’s going on?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he approached. His gaze quickly landed on the mangoes, and a look of surprise crossed his face. "Did you manage to find mangoes out here?"
Kyra nodded, holding up the mango slice triumphantly. "Oceanus brought them! They’re surprisingly good!"
Oceanus, leaning back with a smug smile, added, "Told you so. Who wants to try?"
Lucas’s eyes lit up as he crawled closer. "Me! I haven’t had mango in forever!"
Vincent hesitated at first, glancing down at the mango slice Oceanus offered. But Oceanus smiled warmly and said, "Come on, we’re family now, right?" With that, Vincent finally took the slice, and soon, all the mangoes were devoured by the group.
As they finished, Lucas stretched and looked around the serene landscape, the sapphire-blue river sparkling under the morning sun. "Today’s our last day here, I guess," he said, a hint of sadness in his voice as he admired the beauty around them.
Vincent nodded, smiling faintly. "Yeah, let’s go before our baby starts growing, after all, I still need to hatch the egg, right?" he said, glancing at Kyra with a glint in his eyes.
Oceanus leaned back with a chuckle. "If the baby’s a male, yes! But if it’s a female, not at all," he said.
At those words, Vincent’s expression completely melted, his usual cold aura replaced by a gentle warmth. He looked at Kyra with so much affection that it made her heart flutter. "I want a little rainbow, just like my Rainbow," he said softly, his voice tender as he smiled at her.
Kyra’s heart swelled as she returned his smile, feeling the deep connection and love in his words. Seeing him so happy, the future seemed brighter, filled with possibilities and dreams she hadn’t dared to imagine before. She could sense the love from all of them, and it warmed her soul.
Damon, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up, his voice calm yet thoughtful. "Yes... it would be good if we had a little female in the house," he said softly, his gaze resting on Kyra for a brief moment. His expression was unreadable but peaceful, as if he, too, shared the same dream.
Kyra smiled softly, her heart warm as the future seemed to glow with hope.
Soon after, they all returned to their treehouse and began packing the few things they had brought along. The sun had risen higher, casting a golden hue over the forest, making the moment feel peaceful and almost surreal.
As they walked down the wooden stairs, they were greeted by the sight of Meeko, who was sobbing in Lara’s arms. His tiny hands were clenched tightly around her, and Lara’s other mates, along with Alessandro, were doing their best to calm him down. Simon stood nearby with Riya, looking on sympathetically.
Kyra’s heart softened immediately. "Aww, don’t cry, baby Meeko," she cooed, stepping closer. "You can visit me anytime. We’re family now, remember? Your uncle is my mate, so that makes me your aunt." She gently took him into her arms, rubbing his back soothingly.
Meeko hiccupped as his tiny sobs quieted, his tear-streaked face brightening slightly as he finally smiled up at her, feeling comforted by her words.
But then, Kyra suddenly stiffened. A familiar, masculine, musky scent drifted toward her, wrapping around her senses. Her heart skipped a beat. She knew that scent all too well. And then, a low, almost seductive voice filled the air.
"Yeah, baby... we’re family now," Silas’s voice rumbled softly from behind her. "If you ever miss your aunt, you can always come visit. And I’ll visit you too... after all, how could I live without seeing you, little one?"
