Chapter 534: Chapter 534 A Glance

As soon as Old Lady Wang saw Tangyuan, her eldest granddaughter, sitting on the bed and playing, she immediately shouted affectionately and lunged forward, hugging and kissing Little Tangyuan over and over.

Unexpectedly, Little Tangyuan was not shy at all, and clearly remembered her grandma, who was nearest and dearest and took great care of her, hugging the old lady and nibbling on her face several times.

The cherished Old Lady Wang held onto Tangyuan and wouldn’t let go.

Old Master Wang glared with annoyance, for just a girl was it really necessary?

However, the little girl indeed looked chubby and tender, fair and delicate, and truly was quite endearing.

But Old Master Wang was used to keeping his distance; he hadn’t even held his own grandson, let alone any child. He never held children.

Sitting at the other end of the bed, he watched as Tangyuan and her grandma played on the bed, crawling over the old lady then snuggling into her arms! Her babbling voice was now starting to make simple sounds, and her round eyes playfully darted about.

Then all at once, she spotted Old Master Wang sitting there motionless, like a wooden statue.

Little Tangyuan, as if discovering a new toy, gleefully crawled over to him.

The old man watched the small figure getting closer and closer and couldn’t help but inwardly plead, please, please don’t come over here.

Alas, Little Tangyuan obviously didn’t understand what the old man was thinking.

Upon reaching Old Master Wang, their eyes met—big eyes staring at little ones. Little Tangyuan sat down there, carefully examining this large new toy in front of her.

Perhaps finding him particularly amusing, she looked at Old Master Wang and actually giggled, then quickly climbed into his lap like a tailless koala, found a comfortable spot between his legs to sit down, and even lifted her little head to stare at him.

On the other side of the bed, the Old Lady almost choked with laughter.

Her granddaughter was impressive.

Old Master Wang was terrified—the soft, milky-scented thing in his arms was too frightening.

He dared not hold her, fearing that a single touch might break her.

Wanting to move but afraid to do so, and feeling awkward staying still, the little imp sat securely in his arms, leaving him no choice but to look helplessly towards his wife.

"Quick... take her..."

"Shh! Tangyuan has fallen asleep, don’t wake her up," whispered the old lady, pointing at his lap.

Old Master Wang looked down, well, there you go!

The little one was leaning in his arms, found a cozy position, and was sound asleep, her warm breath on his stomach softening his heart, making him even less inclined to move.

Old Lady Wang didn’t attempt to take Little Tangyuan away but simply handed over a blanket, "Cover her with this. I’m going to find something to eat; I’m starving and utterly exhausted from the journey. Take good care of her, alright? She moves a lot in her sleep and might fall off the bed, so just hold her."

Old Master Wang opened his mouth, feeling wronged inside. You’re tired, but am I not tired? And here I am holding this little one in my arms, what in the world does this mean?

But the old lady had already left through the door, from which the clanging and banging noises of pots and pans soon came.

Old Master Wang saw the little one open her eyes because of the noise, glance at him, and then she continued sleeping.

That one glance melted his heart.

It was endearing, clear, and reliant, and it completely conquered Old Master Wang’s heart.

In that moment, he suddenly understood why his old lady was in such a rush to return home. Faced with such a cute, soft little thing, who couldn’t like her?
