Chapter 299: Chapter 243: Picking Up from the Airport, the ’Unrecognizable’ Fighter (Please Subscribe!)_2
Liu Qian joked: "Not bad. Young Master Chai, have you had your meal? Why don’t you eat first? I’ll wait here." He didn’t want to talk too much about the fighter, as it would be more than just losing face if the Monkey couldn’t take a single move from him.
Tang Kai told him to keep a low profile while they were on the phone last night. Liu Qian agreed, as he was reluctant to show off the fighter before understanding who was behind him. This type of person could be killed as casually as a chicken or a dog, which is intimidating.
"Liu, haha, it seems this guy is really interesting. He almost shook me off." Upon hearing this, Chai Ren laughed heartily. He easily picked up on Liu’s attempts to change the subject.
"Haha, dare I?" Liu Qian said "awkwardly" although he felt foolish, but life is a performance, and one has to act.
Chai Ren did not press for details, he said, "Alright, I’ll go for breakfast. Beijing is getting increasingly congested. If it wasn’t for my fear of getting stuck in traffic, I would come over after eating."
With that said, he went to the breakfast shop accompanied by two bodyguards.
Liu Qian and Monkey continued waiting.
The airport had already announced the arrival of the plane earlier.
In a short while,
Many people started coming out of the arrival gate.
Being one of the busiest airports in the country, the arrival gate was full of people. Many of them were holding signs while Liu Qian and Monkey stared at the exit without signs.
Suddenly, the figure of the Fighter appeared in their vision. As Liu Qian and Monkey were about to wave, the Fighter looked straight in their direction and nodded.
Liu Qian and Monkey paused their movement.
Astonishment struck their hearts.
A powerful vision recognition ability.
The Fighter had picked out their location without so much as it seemed like glancing. His alertness and perceptiveness were not matched by the Monkey. The Monkey felt a surge of respect within him.
What they didn’t know was that all of this was made possible with the aid of Little Two in the Command Room. In just 0.01 milliseconds, the visual image had appeared in the Command Room’s database. Little Two then located Liu Qian’s position in microseconds, highlighting it in the Fighter’s vision. There was no need for the Fighter to think or even entertain the thought, the result was presented before him.
Knowing that the Fighter has this ability, Tang Qing wished to have it too. But it was impossible. The Fighter, despite having flesh and blood, was essentially a robot. Tang Qing wasn’t going to implant a communication chip in his brain, no matter how impressive the function – he didn’t want to put something like that into his own brain.
He hoped that external devices would eventually provide such services, like a Google Glass type of thing, preferably contact lenses, as they wouldn’t stand out as much.
He also wanted to try out something called "bullet trajectory assistance", but Little Two dashed his hopes saying that it was only available to Fighters. The ability went beyond mere microseconds of thought - Little Two could forcibly issue commands to the Fighter’s appendages if necessary. This was what allowed him to fully control the ability to dodge bullets, a real disappointment to Tang Qing. Nevertheless, he shrugged it off; He’d just train himself to have this ability. Why did he have to rely on Little Two?
As an insider, Monkey was once again awestruck, while Liu Qian felt only mild surprise.
"Brother Yuan, thanks for your trouble." Liu Qian stepped forward with a beaming smile and a handshake. This was the Fighter’s name - Yuan Ming, randomly assigned by the system. Although the Fighter’s ID showed him to be 27 years old, much younger than Monkey, Liu Qian didn’t feel right calling him "young Yuan". The Fighter wasn’t under his command, and wouldn’t have given him the time of day were it not for Tang Qing.
"You’re too polite, Mr. Liu, this is just my job, in which I get the equivalent exchange," replied the Fighter calmly. There was no excess in his speech. Once he was done talking, he stood next to Liu Qian and began to get into character. He had a small bag with him, something he wouldn’t have brought had it not been for Tang Kai.
"Hello, Brother Yuan," Monkey greeted the Fighter. Seeing that the Fighter wasn’t actively engaging, Monkey had a bitter smile. His own demeanor used to be the same towards ’irrelevant’ weaklings.
"Hello, Mr. Monkey," the Fighter responded tersely, and that was the end of the conversation.
Liu Qian felt slightly helpless at the Fighter’s attitude. He offered: "Well, Brother Yuan, you must be tired from your journey. Do you want to get some food? We have some time. Let’s all get breakfast together."
"I’ve already eaten, thank you," was the Fighter’s rare utterance of thanks.
Liu Qian and Monkey were both relieved to hear this rare courtesy. Once they accepted this setting, they started having peculiar reactions.
After their exchange, Liu Qian led them to the breakfast shop where Chai Ren was. Chai Ren has just finished his meal.
"Mr. Liu, this is the bodyguard you mentioned? Not bad, he looks very imposing," Chai Ren appraised the Fighter from top to bottom and exclaimed after seeing him.
