Chapter 300: Chapter 243 Picking up from the airport, ’Unrecognizable’ Fighter (Please subscribe!)_3
"Brother Yuan, this is Young Master Chai, and those two are his bodyguards," Liu Qian introduced.
"Hello," the soldier said with his usual ’I don’t give a damn’ expression, not even offering a smile. Liu Qian and Monkey could only shake their heads and sigh at this.
Chai Ren didn’t mind the soldier’s attitude, he laughed and said, "Haha, your bodyguard certainly has personality."
"I hope Young Master Chai will be understanding. This young man’s character is like that. He’s very dutiful and responsible, but he just doesn’t like to talk," Liu Qian sighed.
A glint flickered in Chai Ren’s eyes upon hearing this, he took another good look at the soldier and nodded in approval. "I can see why. I’ve spent a few years in the army as well. The moment he walked through the door, he’s been vigilant, observing everyone around him, including me, my bodyguards, even Monkey. He always looks at people with a lot of caution. Liu, I have to say, your bodyguard is absolutely the professional kind. The level of focus and impartiality... even my bodyguards can’t achieve that."
Having finished his praise, Chai Ren turned to his own bodyguards and said, "You two see? That’s what a professional is. Aside from protecting their target, they don’t care about anyone else. Not even if it’s Uranus himself!"
The two bodyguards behind him lowered their heads in shame. They had to admit that on a professional level, they were no match for the soldier. Part of that was due to the domestic environment and Young Master Chai’s social circle - they rarely encountered any danger.
Monkey was reminded by Chai Ren and turned his head, only to realize that even he was under the soldier’s watchful gaze. He couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh - who did he think he was going to harm, Liu Qian? He wondered just how frustrated a man like this could make him feel throughout a day.
Nevertheless, his respect for the soldier had greatly increased.
Having been reminded, Liu Qian himself noticed the soldier’s behaviour. He was both envious and somewhat relieved. Spending two million on this bodyguard seemed worthwhile. Last time, he noticed that the soldiers surrounding Tang Kai always had an odd look in their eyes, but now he understood. They were treating everyone as potential threats. It did give him a certain sense of security though.
"How much did this ’loan’ cost you, Liu?" Chai Ren asked curiously, not planning on hiring one himself, as his family controlled all security arrangements, which had to be totally aboveboard.
Liu Qian held up two fingers. "Two million RMB. For two weeks."
When Chai Ren heard this, he almost dropped his jaw and exclaimed, "It... you... that’s expensive! That’s four million a month! What kind of bodyguard is so expensive?" He had seen and heard it all, but a bodyguard costing 4 million RMB a month was unheard of for him. It might make sense if it was a whole team. He hadn’t expected that the soldier did indeed belong to a team, a supremely powerful one at that.
"If you knew his capabilities, you wouldn’t think it’s too expensive," said Liu Qian.
"Oh? I guess I’ll have to take a closer look when we get to the United States," said Chai Ren, now interested.
"Well... I don’t know if Brother Yuan agrees," Liu Qian said, realizing that he had spoken out of turn and feeling a bit awkward. He looked at the soldier.
The soldier didn’t take his eyes off his surroundings for a second as he spoke, "I’m sorry Mr. Liu, but I’m only responsible for your safety. You have no authority to order me to do anything else." Only a level-1 security target like Tang Qing had the authority to order him to do certain things. Tang Kai could, but Liu Qian clearly did not have that authority. Serving tea and carrying bags was within limits, but fighting or killing was out of the question.
"How arrogant. Haha, I like that attitude of yours," Chai Ren laughed heartily.
"I hope Young Master Chai understands," said Liu Qian with a wry smile.
Chai Ren waved his hand and said, "No problem. I also come from a military background and naturally feel close to such dutiful soldiers. Why would I be angry? I like people like you. From now on, we’re friends. Brother Yuan, don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it."
The soldier simply responded by saying thank you in a neutral tone.
"Young Master Chai is very generous," said Liu Qian, flattering Chai Ren.
The two men then moved on to discuss some details about the upcoming auction.
PS: That’s all for today. Sigh, I wish someone could lend me some time. Thanks everyone for your support and votes.
