Chapter 680: Chapter 680: Marital Harmony

As everyone perceived, by evening, Tong Yue began to doze off on the sofa. Seeing her sleep soundly, Tong Yao joyfully carried her back to her room.

Si Chen did not come until about 10 pm when the children had already slept.

As per his usual demeanor, the first thing he did upon coming home was taking a bath. After he had taken a shower, Tong Yao brought him a cup of warm water, whispered, "Yueyue has not seen you in a few days and kept saying that she missed you at dinner today. If you don’t have a surgery tomorrow morning, go to work after she wakes up, ok?"

Upon hearing this, Si Chen nodded and replied in a soft voice, "I don’t have surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning. I will leave later."

With those words, he entered Tong Yue’s room, gazed affectionately at his sweetly sleeping daughter, tenderly stroked her hair, adjusted her blanket, gave a quick look to his son next door, and then exited the room.

Tong Yao stood at the doorway, her heart melting as she watched him dote on their children.

She urged Si Chen to go to bed, saying, "It’s late, let’s sleep too. You haven’t been sleeping well with your early departures and late returns."

Looking at Si Chen’s recent busyness, Tong Yao felt a pang of pain. The saying goes, "One’s heart aches for one’s beloved," and Tong Yao’s heart indeed ached for Si Chen.

Si Chen lightly ruffled Tong Yao’s hair, held her hand, and led her back to their room. In a warm voice, he said, "I’ve been really busy recently and haven’t had time to spend with you and the children, leaving you and my parents to take care of them. Thank you."

Si Chen felt guilty towards his family. Over these years, he didn’t have his full commitment to Tong Yao. He had been overseas studying in his earlier years and has been very busy ever since he came back. Thankfully, his parents, Wen Yun and Tong Yaohui were there to help, otherwise, it would have been really hard for Tong Yao.

"Why talk so seriously? We’re family," retorted Tong Yao. "We have my parents and sister in our home to help us. It’s not hard for me at all. So many people envy our life."

Tong Yao was content with her life. She felt that their life was indeed blissful and never had any complaints.

Moreover, as long as their family was together, some hardship was nothing to her.

Thinking of this, she joked cheekily, "Now, you are the famous Director Si. In a few years, your prestige will grow much higher. I pride myself as Mrs. Si."

This year, Si Chen was elected as Director, making him the youngest Director Doctor. Now when Tong Yao went to the hospital, people’s attitudes towards her were undeniably different. They started to greet her from afar.

Seeing Tong Yao, lively and playful, Si Chen’s eyes suddenly grew passionate, making Tong Yao’s heart pound. After being married for so many years, she knew exactly what that look meant.

Although they had been married for many years, Tong Yao still blushed at these moments, which was very tempting for any man.

The room’s atmosphere became suddenly alluring. Si Chen took the initiative, lightly kissed Tong Yao’s alluring lips. After a while, Tong Yao, blushingly, said, "I’ll go turn off the light."

"No need."

Si Chen whispered into her ear.

His voice was soft, and his warm breath tickled the flesh of Tong Yao’s earlobe.

Tong Yao’s heart was thumping so fast it almost leapt out of her chest. Si Chen had been busy these past few days, and often by the time he came home, she was already asleep. He was relatively earlier today.

The couple’s affection for each other was evident, and as the night went on, the time passed unconsciously to the latter half of the night.

Just before drifting off to sleep, Tong Yao remembered she had to choose a gift for Han Enzhen the following day. Han Enzhen was too busy to do it herself, so she would have to go with Guo Jinnian.

The next morning, when Tong Yao awoke, Si Chen was already dressed.

The housekeeper had prepared breakfast, and everyone else had finished washing up and was getting ready to eat. Tong Yao went to Tong Yue’s room to wake her up. Tong Yue rubbed her eyes, remembering she had fallen asleep before her dad came home last night.

Her face fell at the thought. She regretted, "Mommy, I overslept again, has daddy gone to work? Boo hoo, I missed seeing daddy again."

Tong Yao chuckled, "You remember now? Hurry up and get ready for school. There is a surprise waiting for you when you open the door."

Tong Yue’s eyes brightened. "Mommy, is daddy still here?"

"You’ll know if you get up," Tong Yao replied.

Tong Yao picked out a pretty dress for her. However, Tong Yue did not want to wear it. "Mommy, I want to wear the gray one. My classmates say I look like a meatball in a dress. I will not wear dresses anymore."

Tong Yao chuckled at Tong Yue’s words. "Do you like wearing dresses? If you do, then you should not care about their opinions. If you don’t like it, then wear whatever you like."

Tong Yao was not worried about Tong Yue’s self-esteem. As she grew up in a good environment, Tong Yue had a great personality and was expressive and lively every day. Tong Yao had no particular demands on her except for being happy.

Of course, she still ingrained some basic manners in Tong Yue.

Tong Yue gave it some thought and shook her head. "I think it’s better not to wear dresses for school! I will wear them on Saturdays and Sundays."

"Then let’s not wear a dress."

Tong Yao put away the dress, respecting her daughter’s decision on clothing.

After helping Tong Yue put on her clothes, Tong Yao opened the door, and her daughter’s eyes shine upon seeing Si Chen standing in the living room. With excitement, she shouted, "Daddy."

She ran towards Si Chen like a spinning top. Si Chen bent down and picked her up. "Did you miss daddy?"

"Yes, yes."

Tong Yue nodded vigorously, hugging his neck and being fussy.

Si Yang snorted in disgust. "You’re the laziest among us. Let’s eat."

You’re just jealous because daddy is holding me." Tong Yue lifted her chin and looked up at him. "Daddy, put me down and give brother a hug too! He always wants you to hold him, but he’s too shy to ask."

"I am grown-up now. I don’t need hugs," Si Yang retorted, his eyes shifting to Si Chen.

Without putting down Tong Yue, Si Chen used his other arm to pick up Si Yang as well. He walked to the dining table with a child in each arm.

Wen Yun and Tong Yaohui took the children from him. "Stop tiring your dad out. He’s been very busy recently."

Both children were sensible and didn’t pester Si Chen to hold them anymore. Si Yang’s face turned red after being held, but it was easy to tell that he was very happy.

Tong Yao did not reveal his secret and saw that everyone was ready for breakfast. However, Guo Jinnian and Miaomiao had not arrived yet, so she thought of going to ask them. Coincidentally, they came downstairs.

Seeing the dumplings on the table, Guo Jinnian was pleased. "Mrs. Zheng, I’ve been craving dumplings these past few days."
