"They actually agreed?" I couldn't help being surprised when I received notice of the Sorcery Empire's response.
The request that had been made was a formal request that came from the Kite Kingdom.
Though it was actually the sea witches that were making the request, it came from the Kite Kingdom in the end.
One might think that this should come from the Tide Empire since they were closer to the Merman Empire, it didn't actually come from them. That was because the sea witches didn't actually trust the Tide Empire.
The Tide Empire was only close to the Merman Empire, but that didn't mean that they were close to the sea witches.
Even before this, they had no contact with the sea witches.
After all, the Merman Empire didn't have contact with the sea witches, so there was no reason for the Tide Empire to have contact with the sea witches. Especially with the previous relationship between the sea witches and the Merman Empire.
That meant that the only humans that the sea witches had actually built a relationship with was us at the Kite Kingdom.
Though it was surprising that the Sorcery Empire actually agreed.
Even if the Kite Kingdom possessed a status that made everyone acknowledge it as the fifth empire, it wasn't as if that was enough to make the Sorcery Empire humble enough that they would accept this request that easily.
The Sorcery Empire's specialty was their magic and if this was spread that easily, it would mean that they would lose what made them special.
If there were too many people that knew how to use this magic, then they would no longer have the advantage that allowed them to become an empire.
That was why it was strange that they had agreed in the first place.
"We are also interested in the magic that the other races possess, which is why we're happy to host an exchange program."
That was the response that they gave, but I didn't think that this was all that they wanted.
Even if magic from the other races was indeed something special, it wasn't as if this was something that they would be able to use. There were certain forms of power in this world that were exclusive to races, so it wasn't as if they could use it even if they learned it.
It didn't seem like there was a reason for the Sorcery Empire to accept this request…
Still, regardless of why the Sorcery Empire accepted this, at least they chose to accept it.
With the current situation, it was very unlikely that the Sorcery Empire would do anything harmful. 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝑝𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮
As for what they would gain from it, that didn't really matter since it would still help the alliance. As long as the alliance became stronger because of it, it wasn't as if this was a bad thing.
This was what the sea witches were requesting after all…
I was going to let the sea witches know about this and arrange for them to be on their way, but…
"Can you come with us? It's a place with unknown humans. If you come with us, we'll be more assured." Dicus suddenly asked after I told them the response from the Sorcery Empire.
I was surprised that she would make a request like this.
After all, it wasn't as if we were that close in the first place.
I only knew her for a few days, including the time that I met her in the Merman Empire and the few days that we spent waiting for the reply from the Sorcery Empire. It wasn't as if we had done anything that would make us that close in the first place.
Yet it didn't seem like she was the only one that looked at me like this.
The rest of the sea witches also looked at me as if they wanted me to come along.
I really didn't understand why they were looking at me like this…
I turned to Puffer and Ariel for help, but it didn't seem like the two of them were planning to help me. In fact, it even looked like Puffer agreed with Dicus and wanted me to come along with them.
So the only thing that I could do was turn to Ariel for help.
She had an awkward look seeing me look in her direction, as if she was struggling about what to do.
But in the end, she said, "It would be good if you came as well."
I had been completely betrayed.
For once, I didn't actually want to go anywhere since I wanted to spend some more time with my kids.
But it didn't seem like they would back down on this matter.
As such, I could only turn to the ones I knew would be on my side.
It turned out that they weren't on my side.
"Just go with them."
Rose had been silently watching from the side, but she spoke up when I turned to look at her. She didn't have any hesitation in her voice as she threw me to the wolves that were the sea witches.
All of them looked at her with excited and grateful looks when they heard this.
However, I couldn't help looking at her with a betrayed look.
Rose just looked at me with a smile on her face before she said, "Consider it as a diplomatic mission. The Sorcery Empire is one of the four empires of the human race, it's not as if we lose anything from this."
Though there was a smile on her face, it didn't seem like it fully reached her eyes.
It almost seemed like there was a bit of anger that was in her eyes as she looked at me, which I just couldn't understand.
I hadn't done anything wrong…
Or at least I don't think that I did anything wrong.
Once they received permission, the sea witches ran over to Rose's side and thanked her without even asking me.
When she saw this, she just looked at me with the same smile.
